 I wanted him to win...

its a good thing
he didnt really wanna play US Open anyway, but was forced to by the FFT

pressure would have been too much "the new Stefan Edberg"

09-09-2004, 08:53 PM
so he bottled it?

09-09-2004, 08:54 PM
it's true what Eggy said but is that why he lost? sorry but i have a hard time imagining that.

09-09-2004, 08:55 PM
No! Really wanted him to achieve that...

not to mention they played the matches indoors elsewhere so its not even feeling like a slam.

not great to see him lose - but wouldnt be such a tour with him dominating so much... then pressure would've been huge, now he can relax: credit to Viktor though on all accounts - doesnt like like a closie tho does it 4 & 2...!

That is definitely not the last that we will hear of Gael. He was not 100% fit for this tournament, it seemed like he had to have the trainer out for every match he played, that may be why he had to be coerced into playing. Hopefully he will now be allowed time for those injuries to heal completely. I'd like to see how his career continues to develop (unlike Donald Young, who just bores me at this point. Turn off the hype machine already until he actually gets some results).
