French tennis is a disgrace to the french sport.
How can a nation with so many players and money and where tennis is one of their major sports(not to mention a nation who have won multiple Davis Cup in the last 20 years) stay slam-less for almost 30 years????

Was probably always a possibility given he'd been struggling with injuries for a while and was obviously hampered in the De Bakker match.

Good for Misha though, hope he makes the semis

Congrats, Colonel! :hatoff:

Youzhny's gone far in a bunch of slams...not finalist far, but he's consistent. Of course now a QF this tournament, he made the quarters in 2008 at the Australian, losing to a blazing Tsonga...and he's made the 4th round of Wimbledon numerous times.

Could have been a good match. As much as I don't like the guy, it's too bad he had to go out with another injury; his body is probably not menat to be a tennis player.

Well Court Chatrier is suddenly silent.

I hope that Tsonga can make a swift recovery in time for Wimbledon. He has the serve and the volleying skills to play well there.

Now Youzhny will be hoping for an epic 5 set match between Murray and Berdych...and possibly some rain also.

if like most commentators, they have little clue. He may have "family problems" but he was clearly physically hurting today.

:tape: :tape:

No. USO '06 SF, AO '08 QF, and now RG '10 QF(+). Every two years for Misha in the Slams!

I feel bad for Tsonga and the crowd because I expected an entertaining match with Misha winning, but it was not to be today. But I am so so happy for my guy! When the draw was made, I knew he had an awesome opportunity for the SF. And now he's just one win away. He'll probably get Berydch, and they have had quite the rivalry in the past. Hopefully Misha can avenge his loss in the Munich final last year when he had a 5-1 final set tiebreak lead! But if it's Murray, he has a good chance too. DAVAI MISH. I wanna see you in your second GS SF and back in the Top 10 to stay!

youzhny might make it to the semis

Had been a possibility for the last week and a half considering his draw. He almost let it slip against Troicki after the 2-6 first set, but he pulled out the tight second set tiebreak and didn't look back. Mish deserves the lucky draw considering that year he could have made the Wimbledon F if healthy - but lost from 2 sets up against Nadal in the 4R with the debilitating back problems.

Youzhny has now made QF of every slam except Wimbledon. Amazing considering grass is arguably his best surface.

Tsonga is an excelent player, he's gonna make a big jump in the near future.
I'm very sad about his injury...

I think he'll do it before he retires - maybe even this year.

Anyone know how high his ranking could be after this tourney? If he loses in QF or SF?
