Bellu is a decent player with a nice future ahead of him but he's no where near Nadal's league.

Nadal in straights.

Bellucci? :o

Rafa in three.

Can someone with a game play this guy soon? Same with Federer.

Should certainly be an interesting matchup especially since Bellucci is a lefty and has pretty strong groundstrokes.. The only time they played was in 2008 (Rafael's best RG performance), before Thomaz's breakthrough year of 2009, and even then, Thomaz pushed Nadal.

The toughest set Nadal played in 2008 RG when he was in scary form other than Djokovic was against Bellucci. The 7-5 set, in which Bellucci was hittiing through the ball and had agreat gameplan.

Arguably Nadal is not as dominate now as he was then and Bellucci is better now that he was then, so it could be interesting.

Bellucci shouldn't have too many problems winning here.

I actually agree. I am looking forward to seeing Belluci bring his best. If he did not let the occasion get to him in 2008 it should not bother him now.

Bellucci ready to follow Soderling's steps and make his breakthrough in RG. He'll beat Rafa and then bow down to Roger in the final.

Or not...

For the record, I honestly think he's not going to fare any better than Hewitt. I've seen this kid play a few times. He doesn't have what it takes to trouble Rafa on clay.

Predictable matchup...ill probably skip this one.

Me as well. Thomaz played Rafa well before, and gave him some trouble. If Thomaz is really feeling his game, he could give him at least a scare or a tight set.

The problem for Bellucci right now is that he doesn't maintain momentum/concentration. That's fatal against Nadal on clay.

And Thomaz played well in other clay tournaments and in Miami.

At last, some sense in this thread: you, GugaF1, and Johnny.

Thomaz is improved, as you said. His steadily been rising in the rankings and he's still young. People are acting like he's some top 200 scrub.

After seeing Bellucci's "efforts" in Barcelona, I'm tempted to make some cheap comment about him landing on his rear early in this match and waving a white flag. But he was the only player to be remotely competitive against Nadal at RG in 2008, so I give the Brazilian a chance of losing 3-6 5-7 0-6.

thomaz will have to dig deep, but in the end, the 2009 4th round curse will strike again...belucci in 4, but not as spectacular as soda did it last year.

The knees will hurt again, post-factum

Bellucci can hit heavy but i think his defence is not at the level you need to have against Rafa on clay

Nadal's not gonna lose more than 4 games per set this RG, just like he's been doing so far. Bellucci to win 6-10 games.

That´s true, and needless to say, I also could be wrong ofc, but problem is tomorrow match will likely be played in heavy conditions, which suits Bellucci in the match-up imo. Rafa is winning left and right but he´s not hitting good length consistently as he should, and this should be aggravated in wet conditions (which he dislikes) and against such a heavy ball Bellucci hits on clay. Rafa could be in for a tough match imo, definetely believe there´s a much bigger chance than most people think he might drop a set, for instance

This should be over quicky. Bellucci is lefty and makes way too many errors to keep up with Nadal. I'll be gawking at Bellucci the whole time though

Another simple match for Nadull. Hope Bellucci keeps things close, but I guess it's another win easy win for that travesty to the sport.

It's a bit laughable and ironic that you support Murray and can call someone else "dull" and a travesty to the sport with a straight face

I'm actually wondering why you actually care if I care. I mean, the fact you are even responding shows you do care, but whatever. You are obsolete to me, just written you off as a child who is pretty much around for comedic purposes in my POV. Nothing more. Time for you to get over yourself :wavey:

How windy will it be? Wind is the great equalizer, as we saw in the Hewitt match, although that still only led to 6-3 6-4 6-3. Bellucci is a claycourt specialist, but sometimes that is a disadvantage when you play the specialist of all specialists.
