RG R3 WWW: L Hewitt (28) vs R Nadal (2)

How many games will Hewitt win in this one? A rematch of last year's 3rd round where Rafa dusted Hewitt with the loss of just 5 games

Personally I think it will be like 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 to Rafa. Rafa is my #1 favourite, but I have always been a fan of Hewitt, well because he is an Aussie and he has fighting qualities.

Hopefully Hewitt can make one set competitive. Thoughts?

He could sneak a set~ but the way Rafa`s playing this year i`d be surprised if he loses a set all tourney!

he'll likely lose to Rafa for the 4th time in 5 years at RG.

Nadal leads the series 5-4, including 3 wins at RG.

French Open 2006: Nadal def. Hewitt 6-2 5-7 6-4 6-2
French Open 2007: Nadal def. Hewitt 6-3 6-1 7-6(5)
French Open 2009: Nadal def. Hewitt 6-1 6-3 6-1

Progressively worse scorelines for Hewitt as the years go on.

This clown won't be able to take more than 6 games off Rafa.

The problem is that he's a bit of a pusher and you just can't outpush Rafa, especially not on clay.

for that to have a small possibility of happening, hewitt needs a gang of 100 aussie hooligans yelling from the stands "comeooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon" literally every time rafa tosses the ball up to serve.......

Rafa, 6 games for Lleyton (being generous)

StevoTG
05-28-2010, 06:39 PM
I'd be surprised if a fresh Lleyton took a set off Nadal at RG, so his chances of taking a set have gone from very slim to Kate Moss slim. I live in hope, but I'm fearing a bagel.

Does anyone know if Robredo will drop below Hewitt after his early exit? Lleyton could do with not being seeded 32-26 at Wimbledon. He'll need a few withdrawals at Wimbledon, or a good result at Halle.. or he could beat Nadal

My heart says Hewitt... but Rafa well.. is rafa.

Hewitt's had what... two hip surgeries? That's the thing... I'm just not sure about Rusty being able to "trouble" Rafa.

I'll go with Rusty catching Rafa on a off-day!

Rusty in 4. :rocker2:

I get why people say Rafa will win, because it's obvious he will, but still.. After his performances in RG this year, do you really think this is a possible scenario? I don't. He hasn't bagled anyone yet, and I doubt he will bagle Hewitt. He couldn't even bagle Mina, I mean, really.. Rafa is Rafa, he will still win it, but it will be closer to 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 or something like that.

Nadal beat him like 6-1 6-2 in the Olympics..

Mina is a young and upcoming player, and obviously talented. As it goes in tennis, one day these young fellows will be able to give the Top Dogs a bit of trouble - and even more -, and I think Mina, De Bakker, and a guy like Dolgopolov for instance, might well be those guys.

Hewitt - sorry, he was a great champion, but I think his days are over. His age, his recent operations, him already struggling with lesser players, all point in that direction.

But of course... 'never say never' in tennis. ;)

Hewitt is too old to trouble nadal..

Nadal beat him like 6-1 6-2 in the Olympics..

He has been drawn to play Rafa at RG far too many times unfortunately for him.

However, he has had good runs at Wimbledon ever since he lost to Karlovic in R1 as defending champ in 2003. He's made the 2nd week every year since (2 x R16s, 3 x QF, 1 x SF). Plus he's only been defeated by Federer (3 times), Roddick, Djokovic and Baghdatis. So if he keeps making the 2nd week, he's bound to run into someone like Federer earlier rather than later due to his sliding ranking.

Despite the injuries and surgery, he could make another QF at Wimbledon with a kind draw (ie getting to face someone other than Federer, Nadal or Roddick in a potential R16 match).

Getting onto topic, Nadal should take this summat like 6-3 6-1 6-1, with the match finishing on Tuesday afternoon ;)
