I had a feeling about this one. Last year's semi-finalist eliminated while Grand Slam debutant moves on. Dolgopolov Jr plays Almagro in round 3.

p.s. The odds where right...

fena is done. constant injuries,no motivation after the chilean disaster and losing to this ukrainian girl that hasn't had her period yet would be the last straw.

After what he showed vs. Alves, compared to how Dolgo played vs. Clement, and you take the recent history into consideration, this result is absolutely not a surprise.

Gonzo had 15-40 at 3-*4 in the third and Dolgo held, and that was the last stand.

Best win of Olek's career, he is going places. You will be hearing more of him. This is just the beginning.

Quirky game this Dolgopolov. Enjoy watching him play. Rafa's 'struggle' against him in Madrid is put in better perspective.

This is a very sad statement but I'm afraid true.

After almost 15 years of Marcelo Rios and Fernando Gonzalez, with cameo appearances from Massu of course, Chilean tennis looks destined to spend years and years waiting for a new champion.

Shame.

It is STRANGE!

Where this strange comments about "Fena is done" came from?

HE is NOT!!

Gonzo will probably be around 20 in the rank with this result.

He isn't done, he's just been injured. When he's healthy, fit, focused, he's still a top 15 or so player. Wait until he has played for a few weeks after being off for a while until making statements that he's finished as a player.

COME ON DOLGO! You can say all you want of Gonzalez shape, but no matter what it's a huge win by the ukranian. On his way to a top 50 when RG is over! Remember that in March he was outside top100...

After a tough match in Madrid 1st round, Rafa's declaration to the press wasnīt the usual stuff at all. He said he was really surprised by Dolgopolov, and the way he said it left you with the feeling he was wondering whether this guy was a first-rate player in the making. I know haters think Nadal knows nothing about the sport (especially on clay), but I think we are going to hear about this Ukranian for some time. Hope itīs true, the more the merrier.
I for one am already trying to memorise his name: Dol-go-po-lov.

Yes, yes, yes.

Back at the start of the year everyone on MTF was talking about Tomic and (still) Dimitrov.

But it was that obvious Oleksandr was the young player who would break through on the main tour this year -- his rise up the rankings in 2009 was steady and impressive, and he was at the door.

What I've been able to see of his match play in 2010 has been impressive. He is energetic and also composed on court and can be imaginative in his shot selection.

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more from him.

RIP chilean tennis, we're almost finished (in july we're gonna die). Massú is done, Crapdeville is done, Aguilar isn't even a challenger player, we don't have decent junior players and now see this, our only hope is running out too. Gonzo is old, tired of travel, uninterested in his tennis and also injured. In July the Czech team will end 15 years of the most successful era of this sport here in Chile when they kill us in DC.

The future of Chilean tennis doesn't look too bright :o

Massu seems done and he is 31. Gonzo playing worse and worse and he is 30, not exactly the age in which you would excel.

After 15 years of Rios-Massu-Gonzo trio the next couple of years indeed look shady, no junior prospects and Crapeville down to 200th place, Aguilar sucks.

The only light in a tunnel is Saavedra-Corvalan, but I don't know too much about him. But at least he seems to be trying.

He sucks too, he barely wins matches in the futures level, everytime he plays a 300-400 ranked player he loses badly. At the end of the last year he played fine but he seems to be another Crapdeville at best. We have good guys at the 16 and 14 years who won the southamerican title weeks ago, but nothing big.

You have Gonzo for a while. Probably he is not going to be the player he used to be but you can enjoy some of his good tennis for a couple years more.
