Good two first sets from Rafa. Third set was a bit shaky, but he got it done in the end.

Zeballos is not a bad player at all, so I think Rafa did good today, well, at least better than against Mina.

It's a shame Rafa couldn't keep his 6-2 set streak alive in the third.

Rafa is amazing and he has answer for any type of shots http://smiles.mmuz.com/data/10/108.gif

I liked Zeb, he played very good and tried every thing : :yeah:

Pitiful play from Rafa. If he doesn't improve his game he won't last long in the tournament.

Essentially an intense practice session. He'll need to step it up if he plays Lleyton tomorrow.

That is not true, Nadal played very good, Zeb wasn't afraid, he knew he was going to lose any way but he tried to take the most points from Nadal, this is more tricky than playing a player who is careful and wants to win the match.
Also Nadal is not trying to only win, he wants to adjust to faster courts and different balls, he wants to try, to play the best, this is totally different than playing a tough opponent where you try to only win and not trying to play the best shots.

Drop shots can cause Nadal a lot of problems, Federer is rubbing his hands.

No, it will give him few points but will also take other few points. Nadal will be so lucky if Federer comes to the match hoping to beat Nadal by using drop shots. I like Roger and hope plays a good match but drop shots will not make a good match with Rafa.

Zeballos was intent on drop shotting Rafa every single time he got a chance, but unfortunately, that plan turned into a failure. He's got game though, so I'll give the Argentine some credit for competing well. Rafa was solid and adjusted when needing to. Got a feeling his next opponent will be too worn out and just might get blown out.

never in doubt. Zeballos' dropshots suck sweaty balls still he kept hitting them meh.

It hurts to watch avarage onehanded backhands against Nadal's topspin.

NID, Horacio has too little in the tank and Rafa is too good for him, so there was no other outcome for this match :yeah:

2 down, 5 to go :D

This was never in doubt.

I just wanted Zeballos to be more of a challenge...

Rafa wasn't great, but Zeb was pretty bad, except for the last few games of the 3rd set. He gave up so many free points on neutral rallies by either going for too much, or just misreading Rafa's spin.

I can understand going for bombs on returns or when you are out of position and about to lose a point. But I don't see why so many players feel so threatened to simply rally with Rafa for awhile.

By all means, put a little more mustard on the rally strokes (controlled aggression), but that doesn't mean you have to paint the line with a 100mph forehand.

Rafa just kept serving heavy stuff to Zeb's bh. Expected result.

rafa WILL NOT play great by himself, especially when he is returning to form.......you WILL HAVE to get his best out.......evidently his level on clay is so high that not many are capable of getting his best out.......even fed was not capable of bringing the best out of rafa in madrid last week.......

You are joking, aren't you?
If not you know very little about tennis.

I don't understand some fans.

For years people criticized Nadal for expending too much effort point to point in matches in which the outcome is never in doubt.

He has not been sharp these first two matches, but he is still cruising along, winning the important points in the match a la Federer.

Well done Nadal. Vamos

Nadal has always done this in early rounds at RG. This is nothing new.

Rafa actually beating good clay courters, unlike Federer who is beign given Reister . Switch the draws and Federer would be losing sets and crash out in the 4th round. Wawrinka can beat him anyway

Federer would comfortably beat any of the players Nadal has faced. Neither Federer or Nadal have faced a challenging opponent.

i still dont get why he is wearing a 350k euros watch (500k USD) during match play? is he watching his own match time?

Surely, you understand why players wear watches during matches. This is just trying to be clever, right?

Hewitt the punching bag up next. I see Verdasco is hanging on long enough to give Nadull another freebie in the QF.

Its for advertising, they pay him to wear it.
It will be interesting if he break it :p

affirmative. he doesnt need to show anymore than he is showing now anyway. its also called pacing and preserving.

70% capacity does it for now.

75% capacity for the quarters.

80% capacity will destroy them in the semis and the final.

Actually this was a good match from Rafa. He won 80 percent of 1st-serve points, converted 6 of 10 break points and hit 23 winners, just 12 unforced errors and 1 ace.

Not too bad, and it's definitely better than the Mina match. Just as expected, he is improving by each match, and steps up when he needs to.
