I'm so proud of him ! :)
Last july he was beyond the 200th place in the ranking. And now he is a solid top 50 player. Great improvement, especially on clay !

Actually I think he has even a good shot against Tsonga considering how Jo uses to struggle against big servers.

I know a tennis 'commentator' who will lose his job over this. Predicted that GGL would take the 2nd quarter to face Fed in the semis.

I like Tsonga but I think the baker is going to be making some bagels and breadsticks for him next round :awww:

Maybe it will be De Bakker's bakery. He's done it before, and nomen est omen.
(I'm kidding of course.)

 GGL in a GS semi is more science fiction than an entire season of Star Trek

I'll see if I can dig up the article. You think you have bad commentators? Canada has some terrible ones.

Good to see - when the draw first came out, de Bakker looked to be the outsider with the best chance at a deep run (assuming he was fit).

Thiemo was largely outplayed in the rallies today, if GGL had been 100% he would have taken him out.

He's way too passive.

How does he actually get paid for his opinion?

GGL wasn't doing anything at all in the rallies like he never does anything else then putting the ball back cross court. He only opens up the play when it is and was really short. De Bakker has so many skills, great serve soft hands (great dropshots!!!) And GGL was really not sick or anything he was running down everything and he wasn't breathing heavily or so. That De bakker won it with not even a brilliant match says anything about his skills and the level he COULD go to..

Expected. :rocker2:

Thiemo needs to play less drop shots such that he has to rely more on his baseline game (which would then improve more). Currently he relies too much on his drop shots which weakens his baseline game. That said, more net play is good too :yeah:
