Apart from the brain fart in the 2nd set it was never in doubt. Still some stupid concentration lapses and over use of the drop sht. Really cant see him going any further than the quarters

Djokovic sucks.

That was adequate, if he were playing someone who actually were a good match player it could have been tricky. Doesn't look like he is in the condition to win the tournament or challenger Nadal if they play.

And Korolev, I like him, but he needs better coaching. He simply doesn't play tennis.

it is only the 1st round. hope nole gets his act together for the later rounds, but having said that, i have him losing to ferrer in the QF if both make it that far.

Korolev looks and plays like a gorilla. Belongs in a zoo instead of on a tennis court :wavey:

Crap match from Djoko, expect the 2nd round "upset".

I agree with Korolev. If he gets a coach that could teach him tactics, he'd be a much better player.

Yeah, Santi (who it looks like is going through) honestly I think has a really good chance. But if Kei comes back I wouldn't put it past him to upset Nole either. He just isn't where he needs to be with his level.

He played a good match, good enough for the 1st round. Shame about the concentration laps in the second set, but overall a very good match. And considering the heat....he did well.

He's pretty fresh now, if he stays healty he can go far.

I agree with Korolev. If he gets a coach that could teach him tactics, he'd be a much better player.Yes he would, but even then, the "next Safin" predictions were always off. He should be a guy in the 60s and 70s in the ranking, but I don't see him being more than around 20-30. Even with better tactics, he's still a one-dimensional player with an average serve and below average movement. He just needs someone to harness what he actually does well and apply it better.

Nole needs to really work on not having brain farts in matches. Kind of stuff is going to kill him against the better players, because he becomes frustrated so easy and then it just snowballs. All the talent in the world, but without the mental strength he won't contend for another major. Part of me still thinks he can make a surprising run at this title. Just one of those feelings.

Djokovic to get to Semis and take Nadal to a 4 set 3 and a half hour match.

Decent match from Nole. He should improve though. He got through, but was far from convincing.

Don't underestimate him, he hasn't played in a while, remember he's withdrawn from Belgrade and Madrid, so he hasn't got that many clay matches under his belt and he's still having the after effects of the allergies, so all in all I think he made a good start and I have a feeling that he will get further in the tournament that people give him credit for. All the better, then he won't feel the pressure, will relax and play his best. I think it's just a matter of time for Novak to be his old champion self again. I'm glad Murray passed too.

Sure was a concentration lapse - In the second set Djokovic's first serve percentage dropped from 64% to 53% and committing 9 unforced errors to only 4 winners compared to only 2 unforced errors to 10 winners - in other words he lost his way. (http://www.thebigtip.com.au/tennis/79-news/486-novak-djokovic-survives-second-set-blip-through-to-second-round)

Can't wait for the next match against the japenese gun - Nishikori. they have only played each other once and Djokovic won but that was on hard court

These players have never played each other at an ATP World Tour, Grand Slam or Davis Cup main draw event.
These players have never played each other in Qualifying, or at a Challenger or Futures event.
