RG R1: Ouanna sinks Ku-boat 7:6(5) 6:7(4) 6:2 6:4gaitare 05-23-2010, 05:34 PM Expected. kooties 05-23-2010, 05:36 PM Damnit Kubot... Too solid from Ouanna though Ad Wim 05-23-2010, 05:40 PM Kubot is pathetic these days, so sad to see. Hope he does better on grass. Filo V. 05-23-2010, 05:44 PM Luke, just way too inconsistent today. Movement not good enough, he struggled whenever Ouanna got the first strike. Luke should come to net more than he does a lot of the time, he's getting beat from the baseline too often. After a great start, he can't buy a win, on his favorite surface no less. Ouanna played pretty well, inconsistent but well. He can beat Jo Willy who seems to be dealing with fitness issues. Maybe if he does go deep this year he actually will back it up with results at other tournaments. *Jean* 05-23-2010, 06:27 PM Lukasz  The end of a bad clay season. BaselineSmash 05-23-2010, 06:33 PM Lotta game this Ouanna has for someone outside top 100. Hellraiser 05-23-2010, 10:22 PM Ouanna had his day today and Kubot just was exhausted after second set after that he wasn't able to win few consecutive balls. A pitty that RG didn't start good and we haven't any Polish player here already. Sham Kay 05-23-2010, 10:31 PM Saw Ouanna for the first time last week against Roddick in one of those exhibition matches. He won and more convincingly than the scoreline would suggest. Yes it was an exhibition and the duck on clay, but he played far far better than his ranking suggests. Hopefully he can get a decent run here (3rd or 4th round would be nice to see). Nathaliia 05-23-2010, 10:41 PM Back to the roots, was fun while it lasted :sobbing: Montego 05-23-2010, 10:49 PM Back to the roots, was fun while it lasted :sobbing: Exactly, enjoy while it lasts, cause in 2011 Kubot is back to challengers and focusing on doubles. Many player like that who have a season of joy - Robert, Eschauer a couple of years ago, many others. Filo V. 05-23-2010, 11:02 PM I think Luke can hang in the top 100. He's better than almost all challenger players, so I think he can have a Vliegen type career where he mixes high level challengers and ATPs and stays in the 70-90 range. But he won't be consistent top 50, he isn't good enough from the baseline for that to happen. Also, the fact he focuses so much on doubles will end up affecting his singles career eventually, it may already be happening. FlameOn 05-23-2010, 11:13 PM Too bad for Luke. I think he will have better results later on in the year though, he's not done yet. ;) Getta 05-23-2010, 11:15 PM Joss needed this win badly. too bad he can't defend his third-round points of the last year. Filo V. 05-23-2010, 11:21 PM Too bad for Luke. I think he will have better results later on in the year though, he's not done yet. ;) I don't know, clay is his favorite surface. Maybe he can get some results on grass and after Wimbledon on clay, but I expect him to struggle on US hard court. Maybe he will play well in Paris and Shanghai again. In any case, he's going to have to start winning some matches. I don't know what's going on with him, because outside of Rome in doubles, his results in both singles and doubles have really tailed off since his hot start. Maybe the personal expectations he's put on himself have been too much for him to handle. djokovicgonzalez 05-24-2010, 02:38 AM Ouanna = one of my least favorite people on the ATP Getta 05-24-2010, 03:16 AM you make me feel safe, but i'm a bit worried about what you'll be like later. | |
