3:34 was the duration

Fognini failed to serve it out... Luckily for him he was playing Massu. He lost his serve to lose the match.

Was Nico injured at the end? He just started DFing constantly out of the blue.

Nico was the better player for the middle 2 sets and it looked like he was going to take control and win, but his level dropped and Fabio stopped making errors.

I love Nico but I definitely wanted Fabio to win this, good job!

Yeah, but that was to be expected. Nico is past it and Fabio has no confidence.

Fabio actually showed some heart and emotion on court today. I hope he keeps that up.

Massu had a thigh injury during the match, not sure if it was cramping.

Only when Massu lost intensity and he started winning. During 2nd and 3rd sets his attitude was worst than ever.

Like his game, but he will never change, I doubt it.

Yeah, I think he got medical treatment before the 5th, right? He didn't serve well at all or move well so I guess he was having issues, cramping or strain.

Yeah, he was really terrible with his attitude especially in the 3rd, throwing the racquet, slumping his shoulders and cursing to himself. He really needs to grow up but I don't think it will happen at least for the next couple of years. It's hard when you have been praised as much as Fabio was by people in Italy and by many fans when he was just a teen, he didn't get a chance to mature and it shows.

But, I expected him to tank really after losing the 3rd so I'm happy in that aspect that he didn't. He was lucky Nico fell off and has injury issues, though.

Yes, but he was born with that attitude and I don't think he'll change. Also, in Italy there isn't that huge pressure on players: if you go in the street and ask people who Fognini is, I'd be surprised if more than 5% of the people knows.

I guess not Italian countrymen and women, but definitely Italian tennis people, I remember in like '07 or so reading how Fabio was the next major Italian (on here actually), Italian federation praising him, how he'll be top 20-30, how he has so much potential. I love Fabio but I have to say, he was very overrated from the beginning and he's been around for like 3 or 4 years now, and is still struggling to consistently adjust to ATP events. I guess that is his natural attitude but he's going to have to find a way to break out of that habit or he won't grow as a player mentally, which will hurt his overall game.

But this was a very important win regardless, he's almost out of the top 100, and this will help him stay in it.
