Clinical stuff from Soda, hit the ball very good and served good. Good that the frenchmen raised his game a bit and tested Robin, but it was slaughter overall.

I hope Robin takes alot of positives from this, because i think he can regain some of the form from last year :)

His forehand was awesome today. Recouderc was dire, only won four points in the first set, but a good match from Robin to start.

This match made me :hysteric:, it was so boring. Good for Robin though. :hatoff:

Robin looked sharp today. Not the toughest opponent but he did what he had to do.

He got the ball rolling at least, even if the opponent was so-so.

Some clinical forehands from Soderling and a very impressive performance overall. Although it was a mismatch today, he'll be a strong favorite to reach the QF.

Just a few things to point out though:
1) Today he was running around to unleash his forehand on almost every single time the ball was played to his backhand side. That will be a lot more difficult to do against better opponents.
2) He struggled when facing the drop shot. As long as he can stay on the baseline and dictate the rallies, he's a match for almost anyone. But bring him out of his comfort zone and he is more vulnerable.
3) The forecasted weather conditions mean that the courts are likely to play slower in the later rounds - will this blunt his harder, flatter strokes?

Anyhow he looks to be on form and it bodes well for him to defend a fair chunk of his finals points from last year.

Absolute beatdown. Soderling played well, but Recouderc is an awful player.

That was boring, no fault to Robin. Just no excitement whatsoever, and Recouderc was simply terrible.

Robin has 3 really good rounds on paper for wins, 1 out the way.

Why do they award WC's to these useless clowns is beyond me...anyway, job well done Robin:bowdown:

Just an utter demolition.

I wish Sods was on the bottom half of the draw. He's the only one that could have tested Nadal.

Disappointing showing from Laurent. Of course he was never going to take a set here, but the bagel stings.

It really is pathetic. Robin is ranked 9-16, he gets Federer in the R16. Robin is ranked 5-8 and gets him in the 1/4. Seed doesn't seem to matter.

I don't know why anyone would use this match as some type of example of Robin being able to beat legitimate players. It's a good level against a terrible player in R1. Lets see him beat someone good before making statements like "I wish he were on Rafa's side." This isn't 2009 people, and Nadal isn't injured. It's 2010 and Robin hasn't been in great form coming into the tournament. One step at a time, relax everyone.

It was good for Söderling to win a match again after two straight losses. But beating a decent challenger player like Recouderc doesn't tell me that much...

nice easy win for Robin :yeah:

but damn what a waste of a WC :tape: Recourderc? c'mon surely there had to be another French player who's better than this

He'll get him one day. All of Federer's pigeons come for payback eventually. Happened to Gonzo, Davydenko... Hell, even Roddick. I'm sure Robin will beat Federer one day and when the moment comes it's going to be great for him and his fans.

:lol:Didn't take long for one of Rafa hater's couldn't resist bringing him up.

Such a shame he isn't in Nadal's half, playing like this.

And yes, it is a shame we didn't get to see Robin come up against a healthy and IRL emotionally stable Rafael. He still hasn't regained his iron-clad focus on court, though, so that alone would have made put aside some lingering doubts.
