It was originally scheduled to Yuba City

Then went to West Laffayette, Indiana

and now is back to California (Ojai)

last venue change happened so close to the start of the tournament :o at least it wasnt' cancelled. :p

That is scary, to move an event so close to the date. Ojai hosts a big college and Open tournament in April every year, so they can handle it, but it's still a pain in the behind. I'm sure the USTA will have to manage most of this event, but it's good to keep it in Cali since there is a tournament the week before and 3 Futures events in June right after this.

Don has a decent draw with one exception---Gremelmayr. Maybe he is tired from being in Europe so much. That will be a difficult match for Donald but if he can win that, he should make the SF.

Yani-Cook is a nice R1 match.

If Ryan wins he'll likely be in the top 100 after RG so this is a very important tournament for him. He has a couple of difficult guys but probably will make the SFs.

I think Dabul will bounce back and make the final vs. Don/Sweeting. Hopefully Don can win back to back events!

Johnson almost won, that would have been awesome. Did good keeping it close, though.

Matosevic has a nice game, not surprised he beat a pusher like Kim that badly.

Dabul nearly losing to Statham is very interesting, not a great sign in terms of his form.

Can't wait for the start of Donald's and Ryan's tournament here tomorrow!

If you are - God bless you!!!! and that means, also - you've seen alot - and I was watching the live score as well. Never seen anything like it is right. He was going for the tennis equivalent of a perfect game on service.
Sweeting didn't lose a point on his serve until his 7th service game (at 6-3, 3-1 (30-0) - and yes - it was a double fault.
He did not lose another point on his serve. Masterful performance against Estrella - who, credit where credit is due - is no slouch whatsover. You could tell by Sweeting's receiving stats that the match was uber competitive.

Wow, Donald's draw got a lot easier with Gremelmayr out. Hope Denis is alright.

Bester and Kendrick are similar players so I expected a close match there, too bad Robert couldn't back up his result from last week.

Bobby vs. Alex R2, that's going to be an interesting match. Matosevic vs. Polansky is very interesting too. The top half of the draw is stronger than the bottom half.

Hope my favorites do well tomorrow!

Don has haters. That means you know he's somebody.

Filo V.

if he beats Gregorc, he'll play whom? Sweeting/?

Sweeting/Capdeville/Reynolds. All 3 tough players. In the condition Donald is in, I don't know if he can do it. If he does, then he has a chance at the title.

This tournament is so important for Donald, if he wins, he's going to be right at the top 100 area. But even if he doesn't, every match win gets him closer to making the MD of US Open, which is his goal. A good tournament here will go a long way of securing that place.

coasterman9
06-03-2010, 10:25 PM
thats good! He should be around 120's right now right?

Filo V.
06-03-2010, 10:39 PM
thats good! He should be around 120's right now right?

Yes, he should be in the 120 range with the win last week. A win this week would put him in the top 105 most likely. He'd be on 494 points, which would put him around 103 or so. Then all he would need is one more decent tournament in the next month +, and then he should make the US Open.

The opportunity is there, he just has to take advantage now. All he needs is one really good result in the next 6 weeks. I think he can get it done, hopefully sooner than later so he can build himself a ranking cushion.

coasterman9
06-03-2010, 10:46 PM

Yeah lets hope, I want to see the Americans do well in the US Open.

Yeah. Now that Haas represents the US we have another guy near the top of the game to root for. James is going to probably be close to if not out of the top 100 by US Open time so I hope he can do something and turn his career around. Don and Ryan making the MD would just mean more Americans make the MD with WCs instead of those two taking them. Robby and Taylor really helped themselves with their RG results, and Taylor should start doing well now that play is about to hit grass. Levine though, I'm worried about him, he's been playing horribly. Also Russell, he's going to be around 100 after his points drop off this upcoming week.

I want to see the Americans do well but outside of Andy, Sam and John, I can't see any of them doing too much. Hopefully Harrison has a good performance, that would be nice to see a young US guy doing well in the home major.

Filo V.
06-04-2010, 03:56 AM
Don can lose to Gregorc, but Gregorc is really nothing more than average and it would be a bad loss, he already beat him earlier this season. It's a great draw for a QF, and then Bobby/Capdeville is a pretty good draw for a SF. I think Don is tired, that's what I'm really worried most about. Dabul I think can beat Don but I favor Donald over every other player left in the draw outside of maybe Matosevic.
