8/42 W/UEs from Djokovic.

Virtually anyone's going to win when he's making those numbers.

Verdasco played pretty well but Djokovic didn't even give him the opportunity to get tight, he made it so comfortable with all the errors.

Mug's match if I ever saw one.

Start da Game
04-17-2010, 03:25 PM
i haven't seen the match........djokovic played a perfect match and did not miss much yesterday against nalbandian but this sudden drastic drop in level in under 24 hours tells me that perhaps there's something wrong with his health again.......

it's just unfortunate that such a talented player happens to be an asthma patient and is prone to breathing problems........people talk about his poor form a lot, but the root cause for it is his poor health........not that he cannot play into form.......

it's not his forehand, not his serve nor his brains.......it's his stamina issues which is the main reason for his inability to play well over a long period of time.......

Well done to Verdasco for already having two top 10 wins this year. An improvement from 2009 and we're not half way through the season yet. Djokovic was clearly not there mentally and played a rubbish match all round. Thought he was there with the level required after the Nalbandian match but tennis never fails to surprise. :p He's still got some thinking to do but at least the serve has improved-ish.

Stop with this :bs: If world #1 at that time, AO/RG/W defending champion and clayGOAT without discussion (nobody else will win 81 consecutive matches on any surface, ever again) loses on his kingdom and has to skip half of the season, maybe (MAYBE ) it has something to do with being heavily injured. The real difference between Nadal and Soderling is Rome 2009: 3 games in a night match. Ok, maybe it's not the whole explanation to Nole's slump but today on Spanish TV Feliciano Lopez was in attendance and he was commenting that he once asked Janko (the Serb has the same coach than Feli, Josep Perlas) if he knew the reason why Nole had altered his serve, if it was a technical thing or just because he was hurting his shoulder with it. And Janko told him that it was all Nole's own making, that he had gradually developed a 'hitch' in his serve without reason that made him lose coordination when he hit the ball and that it had affected his whole game and loss of confidence. Apparently his old serve is warped. I don't know if Todd was helping him with that or just changing his motion at all because of it.

Blatant tank by Djokovic to avoid Nadal. Also puts paid to Roger's hopes that Nadal might tire himself out. This tournament has been a complete walkover for Nadal. Two challenger level players, followed by the Spaniards, who literally cannot wait to get on their knees and start sucking his cock. Remember what Almugro said before he played Nadal in the French Open? "Rafa is the greatest, he is going to beat Roger in the final" (i.e. I'm not going to stop him getting there). He duly won about three games.

Questionable at best. Of his last 8 finals, 3 indoor hard, 3 outdoor hard, 1 grass, 1 clay. His win ratio is the same on hard and clay, but weighted for opponent quality his results have been better on hard.

It wasnt tank, he played like an amateur, served like a girl and was weak and out of energy. It was failure and a bad one . Probably his worst match in last years. And it doesnt do anything good for his confidence in next tourney.

so it was a tank.

also djoko has had enough terrible losses, this doesnt mean anything.

This means he is not out of his slump. Or do you think losses like today and to Rochus is just accidents ? It became a pattern lately .This means he is not serious threat in clay season like he was last year.
And I assume playing like a bloody moron, disappointing spectators and millions of TV audience was not in his plans. Im not Djoko fan, I even dont like his style very much, but I really believe he wanted to play better, to show tennis of his best days and win (or lose) in good style. He certainly didnt want to embarrass himself and fail in every aspect of the game, but he did.

otherwise than that, it was a good decision, there are bigger things to look after, and the ranking is not even in jeopardy.

well we've come to expect embarrassing losses from novak, nothing new really. as for him being a 'threat on clay',... we shall see how it unfolds till the end. who knows, he might calculate to save some energy for the Open, cause mindlessly playing day in day out in full swing just wont do it for no player as we saw last year.

Where the hell is the agressive Djoko we all used to know ?

yeah hes changed alright..does not mind losing i.e us-open. He's not as competive as he used to be, hes always trying to get the crowd on his side. He was better when he was the young cocky guy who didnt care what anyone thinks.

Questionable at best. Of his last 8 finals, 3 indoor hard, 3 outdoor hard, 1 grass, 1 clay. His win ratio is the same on hard and clay, but weighted for opponent quality his results have been better on hard.
I think his results on clay would've been much better if he didn't keep bumping into Nadal. He lost to Nadal twice last year on clay. Rome and Madrid. He and Djokovic I think prefer clay when they are willing to grind it out.

tough draw

I'd give anything to see Soderling beat Rafa again at Roland Garros. I like Rafa and OK towards Soderling. But that last year's beat down was epic. Probably not gonna happen again. But hey.

oh come on. We all know the spanish players give their ALL against Nadal.

Nice cakedraw for both Spaniards but mostly for Nadal.

Another title for Nadull

As last year indicated, Nadal can be beat on clay. Will he gain this year? I am not sure. But I am willing to find out. Someone needs to go broke against him like Soderling did last year. Where is Delpo when you need him!! Shame.

Should have been Soda vs Nadal in the final. pathetic clown tournament!!

i thought he was injured in Miami v Roddick

hell of a week here for the injured one

Vamos Nando but don't bend over against Nadull tomorow

Haha. I do believe that lightening can strike twice but I am counting on a guy like Del Potro or something like that to beat Nadal. Unfortunately, Del po is not fit so Nadal should win all clay tournaments this year.

Nadal leads the head-to-head 9-0. Tomorrow should be hardly worth watching.

All you haters like to say us Nadal fans are tards. Seems to me, you all are more obsessed about him than we are. So vile. There almost more posts about him than about the players of which this thread was posted.

This means he is not serious threat in clay season like he was last year.

Isn't it a little early to be saying that? This is just the first clay event of the season.

God.. He hasnt played good tennis in 2 years

He has said he prefers hard, but that's maybe psychological as much as anything (ie the big hits actually turn into winners!).

To be fair, he's not good on all hard - hopeless on fast courts like Cincinatti for example.

It was a tank. Completely deliberate. Nole is a stronger claycourter than Verdasco is and should never have lost by that scoreline.

Nole is trying to do what Federer did last year and is trying to do again this year. Repeatedly tank to avoid facing Nadal on Nadal's terms, only play him in very favourable conditions (fast Madrid clay against an exhausted Nadal) to try and get the win and dent his confidence.

Vamos Verdasco. lol at those thinking Verdasco is easy for Nadal. Did you miss 2009 Australian Open? Nadal is a favorite against Nole or Verdasco but both provide matchup problems. Verdasco's forehand and Djokovic's backhand.

MC Final: 6-0 6-1. What to say? :haha::haha::haha:

You may be correct about Djokovic but you are far from being correct about Verdasco. Nadal is a horrible match up for the ball basher. The fact that he was able to claim 2 sets off Nadal in Australian Open to make it epic was simply that Nadal used the incorrect tactic to play him. Other easy victories after the Australian Open proved that Nadal has exposed his game and no longer is verdasco a threat. The number one Spaniard is now playing the most aggressive form of tennis in his career, and his favourite down the line shot is an absolute nightmare for Verdasco, who has the slowest footwork in the top 10 and an atrocious backhand that badly lacks shoulder rotation and balance. He may have a huge forehand, when put on the run can hit some pretty great shots, but when facing a player as fast as Nadal who can retrieve some of the craziest shots in tennis, his footwork weakness is exposed when he's trying to recover his position, especially when the ball is bound to be going crosscourt to his horrible backhand. What's more? He's one hell of a mental midget who chokes and dfs like no other currently on tour.

Nadal = bad matchup for Verdasco. End of story.

"He'll never make it past the the quarterfinals of a TMS event". He went two rounds better in Monte Carlo.

"He's a walking bye for top 10 players". He's beaten Roddick (defying a 7 match losing streak), Cilic, and Djokovic (defying a 5 match losing streak) this year.

Perhaps the most ridiculous statement here was about the AO semifinal. :spit: That match went to 5 sets because Nando fired 20 aces, nearly 100 winners, and was playing excellent tennis. One look at the 4th set tiebreak and it's easy to see this.

And that old tired line about his backhand is a load of shit as well. I challenge you to find any commentator or match analysis that's even hinted that Nando's backhand is inadequate. Trust me, you won't be able to find one.

Losing the final to the best clay court player ever on top of his game is no shame at all. Or are you forgetting the 08 French Open final where the alleged GOAT received the same sort of beatdown?

You haters seriously need lives. BTW what final did Dimitrov reach this week?
