Wimbledon has been a waste of time every year since 2003. I think that should be the first event to be cut from the calendar.

Nah, Nadal was already positioned as a heavy contender for Wimbledon in the previous years before beating Federer. In 2006, he took one set off Federer in the final and in 2007 he pushed him to five sets. It was only hardcore fans who took Federer winning Wimby for granted in 2008 considering the results in the previous years and also considering the relatively bad year that Federer was having in 2008.

Hard one for Nadal.

Seriously,
people are speaking about cakedraws. I don't get it, because no one except Federer, Soderling(only on fast clay and Rafa playing crap)and Djokovic on top form can hurt Nadal on clay.

He will destroy everyone as long as he stays fit.

Exactly. The people who say Nadal has cakewalks are using a similar argument to the critics who said in 2005 and 2006 that Federer was playing in bad era because he was dominating everybody.

The truth of things is that Nadal is just too good on clay and Federer was too good on everything (barring clay in which he was second best after Nadal).

What are you talking about Berdych can't even beat Rafa on Hard anymore let alone clay. Delusional.

As far as Soderling, he has only beaten Rafa twice(once on clay when Rafa was not at his best and ended up skipping three months due to injury, the other time was the Masters where everyone who held a racket beat Rafa). There is no way Rafa would ever lose to Soderling on clay in fact if they play, Rafa would demolish him, he would play 150 percent to his capability to make sure of it.

LOL No one is even saying Berdych and Soderling can beat Rafa, he's virtually unbeatable in Barca. I for one said that they have the ability to push Rafa due to their game more than Rafa's fellow Spaniards. As we've clearly seen this week, Ferru, JCF, etc vs Rafa is just a ridiculous waste of time. Rafa vs Berdych or Soderling would at least be interesting.

That's the last 6 meetings between Rafa and Tomas there, and in each math there is at least a 7-6 or 7-5 set all going Nadal's way. It's also clear that when there is a tight 1st set Tomas seems to fade away in the 2nd (and 3rd). So what I'm saying is that lets say Berdych could get a tight 1st set against Rafa and somehow take it, then anything could happen...

no hope.......not going to happen, like always.......it's blazing obvious that nadal has upped his game sooner than expected this clay season and that makes it even more harder for berdych.......rafa was not playing this good last year at this time.......

gorgo1986

That is the thing bud, this is clay, even if Berdych was to win a set, he would not be able to last in the next. He would fade, that is what is so hard about playing Rafa on this surface, winning a point against him here takes a lot longer. Berdych is not physically strong enough(or mentally).

Jills
04-18-2010, 10:30 AM
I agree Certinfy, if Tomas could take the first set anything could happen. Since Miami he's gained confidence and he'd have nothing to lose by just going for it.

But god forbid anyone even discuss the possibility of anyone winning but Rafa. Yes, Rafa fans, we all know Rafa is the fave. But there can't be any discussion if we all sit around repeating the fact that he's obviously going to win.

Anyway, good luck to Tomas, Robin, Nando and all my other faves.
