Fernando was up 5-1 and had three match points in the second set and then choked it away

Got it in the end though and he's made his first ever Masters semifinal.

Nice job Nando.

Montanes, just 6 points in 3rd set.:worship:

One of the craziest matches I have ever seen!

But YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! Nando :bounce: It's been too long! Far too long!

As for Montanes, I've always had a lot of respect for him, but now I have a whole lot more :)

it took a zillion QFs before reaching a Masters SF

good luck next round :yeah:

Honestly, I think the insane comeback drained everything both mentally and physically from Montanes. He really had nothing left in the third set.

Please don't repeat that clown second set vs Djokovic. He's got a decent shot, but he needs to make sure he hits no double faults and keep his ground game stable and not hit such errant mistakes as he did in the 2nd set.

Vamos Nando! Inching his way back inside the top 10 where he belongs.:)

Verdasco was up:
6-3 *5-1 40-30
6-3 *5-1 ad-40
6-3 5-2* 40-30

:haha: Still all I care about is that he won :o

Nando needed 10 MS quarterfinals to get the first semifinal  Montanes is a strong mentally player but with too weak weapons to reach higher goals.

Chokedasco deals quite well with situations of losing sets in which was close to win them.

What a privileges to watch . Two mental giants at the same time on the court

Montanes did the same thing last year here vs Djoko - whipped first set, opponent loses concentration and a tiebreak in the second, then bagelled in the third.

I must say the way Montanes saved those 3 MP's was pretty unreal, so talented as well, BH is amazing and FH isn't bad when on as well :)

Chokedasco deals quite well with situations of losing sets in which was close to win them.

In the last 2.5 years has won 6 matches after losing a set in which was a point or two from winning the match.

Epic choke from Montanes in the third.
He should won this tie.

Verdasco with his steal nerves is a firm favorite against Djokovic.

Epic choke from Montanes in the third.

:retard:
I hope this was a joke. Do you even know what choke is?
Losing a set 0-6 definetly not and the only headcase here is Nando.

I like watching Monty, wish him a good clay season. :)

Yes, I'd agree - he looked more like he blew all his physical/emotional reserves in the 2nd, and was deflated in the third, just had nothing left at all (especially with Verdasco having cut out the errors completely, 26 in second set, only 4 in third)

A choke is more like what Montanes did serving to stay in the first set, throwing in 4 doublefaults.

Nando is such a head case its painful being a fan. I am just happy he made it to the semifinal. Top ten looks very manageable at this point.
