Thought it was going to be more competitive but Nole was Solid:worship:.

Nalbandian lost the first 11 points and I was scared it would be a golden bagel. That would have been tragic for a player of his calibre.

Remarkable play from Djokovic. Great match.
He's finally getting back to his big form.

Unfortunately, it doesn't matter, because the biggest athlete in sport history Rafael Nadal will outclass him in final.

nalby played very bad match

I'd say he played an average or slightly sub-par match, that would still have had him win against most players in the draw...
Djokovic clicked.. serving, returns, movement... his tennis reason back to a high level. that was that.

What on earth? You have to be sarcastic, Nalbandian was dreadful, absolutely dreadful. Novak has stepped it up a level from his last few tournaments it seems but he still has stuff to work on, espically the serve.

Nalbi was only bad in the first set. Still, Nole is playing better with every match, which is a good thing and needed against Verdasco (possibly).

Don't forget he pretty much demolished on-form Wawrinka and RG-dark horse Nalbi.

nalbandian wasnt that bad at all. it was djokovic's defense to offense than won the match. there were some rallies. djoker had like 14 to 12 winners to errors ratio.

I think Nalbandian has had a good tournament, especially considering all the time he's been away. He didn't play great today, but then Nole is a better player than Youzhny and Robredo.

nope. Murray and Cilic were dreadful. Nalbandian was about his average self, mostly because Novak retrieved well. Those same screamers that Novak managed to put back point after point would have won him games against someone else (else than Nadal that is...)

I'm not saying it was a hell of a match, but it wasn't a one way battering of a mug either... there were quite a few great points there.

If Nalby had played as bad as some people seem to think, the score would have been a lot different.

Sure he wasn't great, but he played pretty much the way he did to win his last 2 matches.

Nole was quite good, the best he has done in a long time :bounce:

Coz if he tries his kick serve that he uses on second serve against Nalby, he gets it right back at high speed and tight angle. So better have returns that he can reach and put back...which he did... that provide David with opportunities for return winners from positions he is comfortable with....

today he sprayed UE's everywhere, and wasnt playing well at all, novak played really solid though.

Result is as expected, although I thought it would be a little more competitive. Saw a few games of Nole's match with Wawrinka yesterday, and imo he was showing signs of his old level.

Should win his SF, but Nadal will probably prove to be too much as per usual.

But as a betting man I have to say that I enjoyed his price today. ;) Nalbandian was given a little too much respect considering how early he is into his comeback, and Nole's level does seem to be a lot better. If he can keep this up, the first 3 months of the season will soon be forgotten.

as i said...he deserves it. but it's time we have someone challenging the no. one spot again. The clay season will be interesting this year... lots of points to defend by the main stakeholders. Fed can even afford a slip-up here and there, but Novak and Rafa have to keep reaching finals or winning. However, if Novak reaches RG by maintaining his current saldo, he might be able to close the gap on Fed. Rafa on the other hand is looking for a bonanza of points there...and to regain his turf of course...

At the slams Nole has been an absolute clown losing to players he shouldn't lose to like Kohlschreiber, Tsonga and older players like Safin and Haas. Right now Nole's best slam is the USO. He only loses to Federer there. At the other slams he is very vulnerable. And that is not how you reach #1.

this was so foreseeable. reinvigorated djoker dumped martin, playing in his back yard, virtually. clay, he likes clay, motivated to finally topple nadal on this surface, now that the spaniard is not in the best of forms.

My concern as well. As much as I like Roger, I was pretty pumped of the prospect of a FO final between Nadal and Djokovic.

If they face off in finals and semis again, I just hope they don't wear each other out this time around.

Nole is still not winning the FO. Either Nadal or Federer will. Depends if Nadal decides to self destruct again by playing every tournament before the FO and in that case Federer will win the FO again.

The barometer for the real current form of Nole on clay will be a match against Nadal, same for the Spaniard.
Really looking forward to it! The hardcourt season has been so disappointing for all the top guys (minus Fed at AO) that fans should be hungry for some normality during the clay season.
Nadal is playing awesome in Montecarlo but Nole is playing brilliant too at spells of time. Let's see what happens. If Nole can get out of his slump that will be really admirable.

I would not jump to any final as yet for Nole. He still has to go through Dasco and even though he has an edgek, he will be tested and Dasco will do his Friend Nadal a favor: Run Nole ragged in the semis, go for everything or nothing!!!!!! Nole's only hope will be to serve decent so he can really make a match out of his encounter with Dasco and especially Nadal if he gets there. I don't think it is a good idea for Nole to kill his spirit by loosing to Nadal early on in the CC season, before RG!!!!!!! It will have a negative effect on his confidence....... The Serbian Slayer vs. the Spanish Armada and their Clay Court King Rafa..........
