This morning Fernando González announced that he had ended the work with his coach, Martín Rodríguez, and his Physical Trainer, Carlos Burgos. He said it was "the end of a cycle".

He's now looking for a new coach, anyone here wanna send his/her CV?

I'd give it a shot. Here would be my plan for Gonzo:

Plan A: Hit hard

Plan B: Hit harder

I'm also available to coach Blake, Gulbis, and Tursunov.

probably Martin and Carlitos get tired of this Gonzo's no-care mode in 2010...

Was he just waiting for Todd Martin to become available?

i wouldnt care so much if he didnt have some points to defend coming up, who knows why he decided to do it now:shrug: but it seems like a weird time to do it...

González hired Cahill but only to do part time coaching job apparently. We'll see how it goes...

isn't Cahill a member of the Adidas coaching team along with Gil Reyes and other people? maybe it's not like Gonzo actually hired the guy but he's using the Adidas people

I dunno. The article I read used the word 'hired'.

Doubt it will make a major difference. Maybe a burst of resurgence like what happened with Stefanki, that fades after a while. Gonzo has a pretty much defined game.

From Gonzo himself:

Hi friends,

I want to announce that I will begin to work with australian Darren Cahill, a coach that got a lot of results with Agassi and Hewitt at their best moments and in different years. It won’t be full time because of his obligations but I trust he will help my agresive tennis with the best tactical moves of the australian school.

Currently I’m in Chile working with pysichal trainer Ricardo Lara, that is a member of the chilean Davis Cup team."

I think Cahill will be good for Gonzalez  :)

I don't know if any coach can do a whole lot with Gonzo...he pretty much is what he is at this point. Cahill is an interesting pick, though.

I agree, it's very interesting. Gonzo is trying to find a second Stefanki

I think Gonzo is in good hands. Cahill is one of the sport’s best minds and tacticians. He should give Gonzo an honest breakdown of his game and some smart strategies for taking on the top guys.

I remember listening to his commentary at Wimbledon some years ago, very intelligent and articulate guy.

Isnt Cahill already part time coaching Verdasco and Hantuchova?
