Round2
[4] Marin Cilic (CRO) - Igor Andreev (RUS) 6:7 (4:7), 6:1, 6:4

Bitter defeat:banghead:

http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/5504/49487450.png (http://img15.imageshack.us/i/49487450.png/)

The fact that the first set tie-break on the remains of Igor is good, but then know how to fold sometimes decisive 13th break games for him.
At the beginning of the second set there was a decline, just 0:4. There have been attempts to win back, but failed. Twice as many mistakes at Igor in the second set 11/22, although the active wins 10/12.
But the third set was smack on the roller coaster with its ups and downs.
Already in the third game of the Igor provided just fantastic opportunity to lead with breaks in the form of a triple break-point, but each time after receiving a second feed to complete the drawing in his favor could not be.
Then how is it not strange confident in their game after such filing, and again the chances that this time using Igor, the behavior of 3:2.
But unfortunately he confidently held game to its filing and remained the only
Under zero lost his own serve, but after the break again and again to defeat. 15: 15 and the rope broke, who played in favor of the Marina, good luck .. Oh, you ...
Igor again lost its filing, although the first break-point played a brilliant combination with a shortened, but the second failed
And more ... Marin comes forward, easily taking the game, and the reception ends the match, because Igor was unable to impose a fight here, which was until then (

The match, which could culminate in the victory of Igor, to whom he was close and who could give him confidence, ended with the defeat
Pity
:awww::crying2:

Igor

He was playing pretty well and really should have won. Needed to hold onto his serve after a couple of breaks in the 3rd and just couldn't do it.

In the first set, Igor twice went ahead making the break, but failed twice to maintain their advantage.
In the end, Seth came to tai-break.
In tai-break Igor immediately played great at the reception and led 1:0, but lost two of its filing. In general, inferior to 2:5, won another in the reception, and filing with the capture of the difficulties. The Frenchman has helped a little bit of his double and an error, when Igor is well accepted. Account 4:5, take two points from the filing Igor would have earned setballs.
One picked up - was a good one.
But the second could not.
He had chances to equalize, but failed forehand.
Set lost and a break - the heavy rain began.
Statistics of the first set - http://i073.radikal.ru/1004/77/0d1a38d0c012.jpg (http://www.radikal.ru)

In the 2 set immediately gave his submission (although led 40-15), then made a reverse break, but again lost serve.

Do not change the course of a match after the first set and lost to Igor.
Total match bad :sobbing:

Hey everybody! Remember me? Back after a while gone, I've seen Igor and his results haven't bumped dramatically upward though :(

From what I have seen, Igor seems to lack confidence, his second serve is a weakness now and gets attacked constantly, and he is stuck in a rut of losing in general, and it has affected his game entirely. He hasn't improved enough if any and the game is going to pass him by if he doesn't get it together. He's almost out of the top 50, so it's time for him to pull it together.

Oh well here's a little bit of what his draw in Italy :inlove: (I have to go there one day!) looks like.

Pablo Cuevas (URU) - Philipp Kohlschreiber (GER)
Victor Hanescu (ROU) - Michael Berrer (GER)

Damn can this guy ever get a good draw?Monaco is probably going to give him a beat down in the first round!I guess that's what happens when your ranking drops !

The only way this will get better is if he wins a tight competitive match, or a top player. The losses to Cilic and Federer have clearly had an affect on him mentally, and he simply is too fragile mentally and inconsistent game wise to win these matches. He's just going to have to keep digging deep, and hopefully find a way to make it happen.

As has been said, if his struggles continue through the rest of his clay season, then he is in deep trouble on other surfaces. He needs to gain confidence now to take forward for the rest of the year. As fans it's hard, but he needs our support more than ever.

Hey Igor :sad::banghead:
Too bad so many chances and was not able to bring to win:sad:
After an opponent that was not as much so strong. No! Equitable was it showed and the game.
And to use their capabilities have been ...
It's a pity that so Igor loses.
Such talent wasted:sad:
And it lacks focus and concentration on key balls, when you need to bring the drawing to mind, to a logical payoff.

A strip of Igor. So how did she shall be taken, if he gives in the first round?
You must try, I can not over if need be - Igor is able to.
Is growing slowly course Igor, but it is slowly happening all.
Soon after Roland Garros

Calm he wanted to come by then and the game to normal.
As one might think!

ANDREEV OUSTS FIFTH SEED KARLOVIC

Russian Igor Andreev overturned a 0-2 career record against Ivo Karlovic as he ousted the big-serving Croatian 6-4, 7-5 Wednesday in the second round of the Serbia Open 2010, an ATP World Tour 250 clay-court tennis tournament in Belgrade.

The No. 50-ranked Andreev broke the famed Karlovic serve twice, once in each set, to defeat the fifth seed in 87 minutes. World No. 33 Karlovic, a finalist in Delray Beach earlier in the year, reached the semi-finals (l. to Kubot) at the inaugural edition of the Serbia Open last year.

“It’s always tough against Ivo… he won’t give you much rhythm and you’ll only get one or two chances and you have to take them,” Andreev said. “ I tried to stay focused during the match and in the second set I was happy to make a break at the end. I was very happy the way the match went.”

The 26-year-old Andreev, who clinched his 200th tour-level match win with his first-round victory over Blaz Kavcic, is through to his third ATP World Tour quarter-final of the year. He was also successful on clay in South America in February, reaching the semi-finals in Costa do Sauipe (l. to Kubot) and the quarter-finals in Buenos Aires (l. to Ferrer).

Andreev next will face big-serving American Sam Querrey, who claimed three service breaks in a 6-3, 6-4 win over Evgeny Korolev.

It's a much better week than previous weeks, but still shows he isn't there yet to beat top players or at least high quality guys. His wins to Kavcic and Ivo coming off injury on clay really aren't impressive, but it's the win that counts. Hopefully he gained some confidence and feel for his shots this week he can apply next week to Madrid. Also he got to 200 wins so that is an amazing accomplishment, can't believe he has already been around that long to do that! Congrats to that, Igor and good luck in Spain!

Igor
The beginning of the first set, Igor failed. Immediately lost their starting and end the party could not even impose a fight at the party. I never could adjust reception filing.
Yet the task was such as I think - to keep its supply, take, and only then drag the opponent into long jokes that Igor can do well, knowing how to play on clay.
http://i017.radikal.ru/1005/bf/74cdc79265b5.jpg (http://www.radikal.ru)
To solve these problems Igor began in the second set. He did not start the party failed, and after managed to exploit the situation and made a break, and then secured an advantage, and held starting on time audience.
He led 4:1, with 4:2 Igor took his serve, and then take the set, took another break.
If in the first set in the main struggle was to serve Igor, in the second set, the situation changed.
http://s52.radikal.ru/i136/1005/e0/6ea30a0d57e4.jpg (http://www.radikal.ru)

In the third game of the third sets in his filing Igor had several break-point, and at first had to be easy.
Igor was wrong, but then himself in a brilliant style of the hole.
http://s44.radikal.ru/i104/1005/bf/eb59003b932a.jpg (http://www.radikal.ru)

In the fifth game of serve Igor had the advantage, but then a double fault and an error occurred. Deuce.
Had a chance to keep starting Igor, but prevented the error. He lost one point, he missed the attention of game.
In the next game Igor could level the score in the set, but failed to take their chance.

When 2:4 Igor simply gave his filing and the score became 2:5.
Provide combat Igor has managed at the account 00:30 *. He won three goals and earned a break-point and took the filing of an opponent. In a good style of game played. Then Igor confidently took his pitch.

Ah .. if, Igor himself would not have created such an account  if not given the second time in the set

At the reception, 4:5 Igor took 30:00*, but then some strange shortened, then the error and 30:30. Igor still managed to make break-point, but his opponent played a great presentation.
Well, more and more matchballs and all.

Igor :banghead::crying2:

http://s47.radikal.ru/i116/1005/40/fdcf443a978e.jpg (http://www.radikal.ru)

I'm sorry:sad:
In the second set I was happy to play Igor and thinking about good, but(
If Igor in the third set did not give it to the second filing, then things might have been different.
Instill hope in the end of the match, could do by 5:5, but not bad(((

Sorry, this grid was good, that could even think about the finals and the title, which we are all waiting for so long as Igor, but apparently have to wait again.
:worship:

1 / 4 final - but not bad, especially after recent results, but could hope for more. By Igor at the game it was capable of.
And I thought Igor compared to previous tournaments managed to add. I hope it is true that I have not thought.
Though it's the best form Igor Andreev is still far.

But the youth that Igor is a good performance all the same :)

Igor, continued to work hard on yourself! :worship::hug:

Filo V.

Here is Igor's full section for Madrid:

Murray - Bye
Cuevas - Q1
Hanescu - Andreev
Q2 - Querrey

Quite frankly, based on how Igor has played lately, Hanescu probably is the favorite to win the match and I don't really expect Igor to win. Also Victor is playing for Romania this week in Davis Cup and has won 2 rubbers already with another tomorrow, so he will be match tough and confident if he wins tomorrow.

If Igor can win his R1 match, then he will likely face Sam again, and that will be a challenge since he just lost to him a few days ago. Igor will need to bounce back from the match and put it behind him and pump himself up and assure himself he can win. After that, likely Murray, another tough match.

If Igor is going to improve his ranking and regain his confidence, these are the types of draws and matches he will need to play his way through. So in a way this could be a blessing in disguise if he wins these matches and causes some upsets. You have to believe and think positively in hard times such as Igor is going through.

Good luck in Madrid Igor!

hanescu could also be tired after having not much time to get to madrid and practice either.

Hanescu could be tired, good point, and the drop off in intensity from Davis Cup to a R1 match on an outside court in a regular tournament generally will make someone run out of energy even more. However, he played short matches in Romania and won all of them easily, so his confidence level is high, and Igor's isn't. The difference in courts and Victor's preparation and how he's feeling will be the major factor in the match IMO.

I agree with you that if Igor had started better he could have won the match, but the problem is that he didn't start well, and has too many bad patches in matches to win consistently. Hopefully the two wins in Belgrade will help with his confidence, and him almost coming back from being far behind in the third set vs. Sam could give him assurance that he can and should win playing upper-level players and that if he plays like he is capable of he can. Also Sam could also be tired from Belgrade so that should help.

He has the opportunity for a great tournament, but it is up to him to capitalize.

It seems as if Igor has withdrawn from RG.

Is there any info anywhere on his injury? I guess it's pretty serious :(

Someone posted in the injury thread in GM that he will be out for between 3 and 6 months

Unfortunately, from the information I have read and heard, Igor was making a move, his ankle got stuck in the court, and he basically has torn ligaments and bone issues (like deep bruise, bone chips) as well, he had to get treatment on court, he could not put weight on the ankle. He essentially totally damaged the right ankle. If 3-6 months is correct, he won't be back until the US Open at the earliest. It's such an unfortunate situation, and right at his favorite time of year, too. He's been lucky with the injuries after tearing his ACL. Unfortunately this seems to be equally as severe as that knee injury.

Get well soon, Igor.
