Ferrero looking hot and that's what matters.

He played well too.

JCF bullying the birthday boy. No mercy for Marcel (just turned 24).

Seems to have pretty much picked up where he left off in Latin America. The real tests will finally come later this week.

Seems to have pretty much picked up where he left off in South America. The real tests will finally come later this week.
Yeah he was hitting some very good ball.

Just the little blip when he went 0-2 down but soon rescued that, and Granollers struggled to make a dent - even when he played well, Juanqui was coming up with the answers.

I liked some of the sharp cross-court angles he was getting off his BH, very Nalbandianesque.

Doubt he'll put more than a dent in Nadal's title march but I'm sure he'd settle for a QF appearance at this stage. Hasn't made the last 8 of a Masters in three years (when he reached the semis here).

I agree, if Nadal is struggling for one reason or another, Ferrero does have the form, and the history to take advantage of that, he did so in Rome back in 08 - but I think he'll need help from Nadal to repeat that feat.

I do think it could be a good match if they both make it that far, though.

Ferrero was having some decent shots. Actually, it was brilliant how he played!

Juanqui was just too good. Marcel looked a little shaky at times, but I'm glad he eventually got a few games on the board.

Loved those angles and cross court passing shots, just goes to shows how resourceful Juan Carlos is on this surface. The first set went a bit too easy, Granollers was making too many UEs and probably gave up from midways, but the second set they had a match of a sort at least for the first four games.

That smiley JC drew on the camera was so cute!

Granollers was poor, but that does not take away anything from a very convincing Juanqui.

Great form on clay from JCF, good luck for him during the clay court season.
Unfortunately, I don't think he will be a real threat for Nadal.
Maybe he will be able to make a good looking result, but Rafa won't drop a set.

Ferrero played really well and he recovered from the 0-2 deficit in the 2nd set nicely :yeah:

Marcel Granollers one of the worst players i have ever seen. His forehand is crime.

JCF continues wreaking a trail of destruction on clay this season. Great stuff. His backhand is looking better than it has done for a long time. Hopefully he can progress to quarter-finals and set up a showdown against Nadal.
Poor Marcel. His home city event in Barcelona comes up next week, and he has never won a single match there, losing 8 out of 8 including qualifiers.
