I like bernie(as a person, not his tennis), he needed a wildcard. He deserved a chance. He worked hard.

There are more than thousands nice persons who worked hard and deserve a chance in Tour.

"Nice person" is not a profession.

He got the best possible draw (as usual) and was still blown away. That's what you call a waste of a WC.

Yeah, totally expected.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I can't see Tomic winning a Majors or even Masters 1000.
But we will see, worst players than him won a big tournament.

Wildcards never go to those who deserve it

Becker won 10 of the last 12 games, but I still for the life of me can't figure out how the Croat currently playing for Australia got a WC into this one...

Heard a rumour Tomic was sick afterwards, so not sure this result means much.

4 and 2 defeat on clay against Becker is a great prospect for the future

Perhaps this one was at the time of his afternoon nap so he wasn't 100% once again

This was the first clay wildcard? Good test for Tomic, but he wont be better than Hewitt this way..

About the wildcard, at least say the name of some player that would deserve it more. Harrisson? Rufin? Krajinovic?

Now you're only naming other youngsters, but there were lots of guys I'd pick over Tomic. For example: Nalbandian, Dolgopolov, Ancic, Marchenko, Nieminen, etc. etc.

The Tournament director is Croation so there's your answer.

Typical Tomic match, starting off well and fading away as the match goes on. Still a lot of work to be done on the movement and endurance, but hey its all part of the development.
