I watched a part, Hanescu was making most of points and errors, Gasquet is well physically but not in his tennis, not offensive at all, relied mostly on grinding

yes because Hanescu made many errors in end of 2nd and beginning of 3rd set :shrug:

gasquet is done, im not sure wether he has underachieved in his career or was overrated from the start though. either way, he will never be a top 10 player again.

richie standing 10 m behind baseline, with no angle at all, no running. such a lazy ****.

I really believe that Hanescu is able at the beginning of the season to make a good clash with players TOP15 on clay, and make no more so many upsets.

Woeful TB and poor return from Richie. He was not without chances to dig up a win here, but I just knew those 5 missed BPs at the beginning of the decider will come back to bite him later

I thought the same but it was not that surprising as he didn't look confident in his tennis, that he couldn't be confident for bps.

He mostly relied on Hanescu's errors, which actually gave him second set.

I don't think he was particularly passive on BPs, though he was too passive all too often throughout the match for my taste. He went for some of them, but BH letting him down then can't be good for his mindset

yes precisely : when you're not confident in your game generally speaking, you cannot be confident on bps if you have to make the decision

Please alert the folks at Oxford Dictionary, "unstoppable" has now been redefined to mean "can only be stopped by Victor Hanescu".

I agree. Add the poor returning on 2nd serves and that's it. It may sound wird, because there were plenty of DFs, but I liked his serving.

I watched the beginning of the third set. Gasquet will need to start sharpening up and win these kind of matches soon if he wants to get back up from where he's at right now.

Funny, sad and true at the same time.

Current form is somewhere near challenger level, if that. I mean it was good to see him show the full arsenal against his first two opponents but when the test came he failed to deliver, unsurprisingly. Almost never in doubt. I say almost because the first two matches gave me a little hope. :(

Just hope he keeps practising and not get too put down by these losses; eventually it'll come with a little luck as well.

me neither : I just stress that he has played a lot on clay since they were together, and that he was not aggressive at all yesterday, mostly running and grinding.

I don't think it's a ggod sign for Wimbledon, where the surface is mostly adapted to his abilities imo.
