Golubev is one of the strangest players around
Today such an awful and indecent level of play with many balls threw out of the stadium...

Gasquet may not have been faced with the most feared players around here so far, but I'm still quite impressed considering his earlier losses during the year.

It should be a nice match with Lurch next up. :D

This would mean something for his confidence; the French players have always been decent in Casablanca (which has a surprisingly interesting line-up this year). Still, let's be honest, it's not beating the big names yet. It's whooping the random passers by. But I'm not an expert on the topic hence I bite my nails in anticipation for yuri27's diagnosis.

Of course the opposition has not been top quality so far, but it is a long time ago, since Richard beat those players with scores like that. And for a player as dependant on confidence as Richard, this can only be good.

Bad for Kubot Gasquet is on fire right now

Stay calm, He hadn't a good occasion to choke, I'm sure that he will fail against someone higher ranked.
I like Gasquet's style of play, but destroying weak players means nothing.

Still better than losing to them or winning in three laborious sets. The glass is always half full or half empty.

I support Richie to win this title, I'm just warning about overrating this victory, that's all.
I don't want to depreciate him.

I'm curious, who in your opinion has overreacted that you felt the need to intervene?

People are making this bigger than it is, it's not like Rochus and Golubev are like the best clay courters on the planet

But good win :yeah:

Well he did have four sets to choke away 5-1 leads and DIDN'T. Sure his opponents were not Top 10 players but this is Gasquet and it's quite impressive that he has won four sets 6-1  Given his past history, he is capable of blowing HUGE leads against just about anyone.

I don't think anyone here, even his most ardent fans (ie. me) is getting too carried away over this but it's nice to see him playing well and able to beat (or should I say anniliate) players he should.

Hope he can continue to actually do this against better players because it's nice to see him using all his shots.

No one thinks he is beating Nadal yet lol. But two good wins is a step in the right direction. I think I missed the overreaction

Today's match was not as flashy as against Rochus, but rather very solid with great serving. Again, most impressive feature so far is his Nadal-like intensity and concentration on every point. He almost always take naps during matches since 2006. This week, so far, he seems to want to win every point he plays.
