The bottom half of the draw is not a joke. Brown vs. Haase is really mouthwatering. And the winner of that taking on Eco. Bohli vs. Muller is a nice 1st round. Potential QF of Brown/Haase/Eco and Lu. And the rematch of the young hot shot Berankis and Rainer.

All in all, a nice draw.

Well unless Martin won by tiebreak in the 3 you should be good to go. Because i know Martin won the match. -3.5 is somewhat better than my -4.5. My only chance is that he broke when up 4-3.

Only positive I can take out of a loss like this for Bjorn is he has nothing to defend in the next 2-3 months. Sadly, it doesn't seem like he is actually going to win matches for it to matter  Just don't get it with him.

Anyway, good result Henri, probably a better player than Bjorn at this point.

Why economidis have not played in first tournament this year

Filo V.
04-27-2010, 01:11 PM
Marco has not had the season that shows his rise up the rankings last year was anything but a fluke run. He lost 80 points he was defending last year with this loss.

Good wins for Gilles, Brown and Sela won 6-4 6-3 as well.

As far as the rest of the results, I guess someone will need to call someone from the tournament, or check the website for updates, the protennis scoreboard is broken outside of the center court match of Berankis-Rainer.

Berankis is very young, in ATP circuit has 0 chances. Only in indoor tournaments is decent at this level.

Harrison, Berankis, Dogolpolov... all are the same, long way to go.

IMO, Tomic is the best young player.

FrankSolitario

if you arrive at 6-4 *4-3 and then lose without making a single game, it's not a serve problem but a mental one
you choke beacuse you shit in your pants to close the match; at that point your serve becomes awful because serve is the most mental shot of the game...

i know him very well; he is 1,73 cm and he is not karlovic and his serve is not good, but that's not a good reason to lose 8 games in a row
in some kind of way you arrived at 6-4 4-3 with the same service ever...

Filo V.
04-27-2010, 03:16 PM
The match-up between veteran journeyman type vs. young guy on the come up, the veteran generally wins. Mental strength and mental/game consistency, and confidence, are things a young player like Berankis simply hasn't developed yet. Obviously he has serve issues and makes too many errors, but these are things he will get better with as he progresses, and playing guys like Rainer are a good way to test your skills and learn and correct your weaknesses.

Yes, maybe his serve in 1 set and half 2nd set was decent today.
Anyways he wins matches against USTA rivals more unconsistents than him, but when he's playing against Europeans don't work.
IMO, he must still learn a lot, not ready to compete in ATP tournaments.

Henri is a good talent, but let's be real here. He has played a player coming off injury as well, and then played a player who was likely tanking. Good wins, especially so easy, but the competition level isn't the best, so both wins actually are quite expected to me. Rainer is a totally different level, and although I know Henri can win that match, that will be a better indicator of his level, and can springboard him into a possible win in this tournament.

Very low percentage of 1st serves and lots of dfs by Brown. Got the break in the second though.

Dustin is having serious problems winning second serve points, which leads me to believe he is losing most of the rallies.

He always relies heavily on his serve and it's just not wroking today. Broken now. Thought he'd be the big favourite here after defeating Haase so big.

True, I agree, which is why I thought Stadler would win, since from what I have seen of him, he's a decent returner. He's also left handed, which means his shots are directed at Dustin's backhand. I know Dustin relies heavy on the serve, so as you said, if it's not working, he's not able to be aggressive like he wants to be, and has problems winning as a result.

All of this are reasons why I have always thought, even though I like Dustin, he would struggle on the main tour if he makes the top 100.

Kontinen in outdoor against an on-fire rival...nothing to do.

This young guy playing in outdoors courts decreases his level a lot. In indoor tournaments it would have been different. In Rhodes Rainer is too consistent for him.

Phau and Mannarino weren't rivals. Phau didn't play and Mannarino is still warming up as I said a few days ago.

Not strange.

I still remember a TB Mahut Vs Clement in Cherbourg. Both 'players' lost 6 or 7 points serving in a row, most of them were SPs.

I just want him to have a decent ranking so when he gets to the grass, he can get in the top 100. Losses like this won't help, but I never expected him to win this match and I definitely didn't have him beating Rainer.

Rainer's score today is a little bit strange. Before starting I thought he'd win easy in straight sets, however he was about to lose. Unable to break him in 1st set, being back in 2nd and terrible start of final set. At last he did it but that game to game makes me doubtful.

According to stats Sela played well but also choked.

H2H is dominated by Sela but last week was demolished. Who knows?

Rainer is probably tired from playing 2 weeks straight, but his talent level and quite possibly choking from Sijsling won him the match. Even though the H2H shows Dudi to be the likely winner, Rainer dominating last week makes me believe he will win tomorrow. I think Rainer is more offensive and will push Dudi around and unless Rainer makes errors, I don't see Sela having an answer.

Yeah, but he solidified his place in the top 100, which was his primary goal. Lets see if he can get a win this week in Israel.
