Which Of These Players Is Most Likely To Win Wimbledon This Year?

Yeah, so who do you think is the most likely to win Wimbledon 2010 at the moment?

I've put 6 of the current top 8 players as Federer is obviously the most likely, while Davydenko doesn't seem to give a shit about Wimbledon

Personally I think Andy Roddick.

Andy Murray.

After the heartbreaking loss last year, I'd like to see Andy win it for sentimental reasons.

I think we'll get another Fed-Roddick Final, with Andy hopefully turning the tables on Fed this year  ;)

[... why isn't Federer in the poll? ]

Novak Djokovic - having serving problems, does not move well on grass and Wimbledon does not seem his venue. Would be a very unexpected winner.

Andy Murray - moves and plays well on grass, has home support and was very near to winning semi-final last year. A strong contender.

Rafael Nadal - probably could be exhausted after intense clay court season and his body not managing strain as well. However, has won before and consider a strong contender unless somebody plays very well against him.

J M Del Potro - does not move well on grass and still lacking in experience on grass. Could also be injury problems. Would be a very unexpected winner.

Andy Roddick - has played very well at Wimbledon, has a game that is suited to grass and probably really believes he can win. A strong contender.

Robin Soderling - has too many bad days and does not move well on grass. Would be a very unexpected winner.

Overall marginally go for Nadal just ahead of Roddick if only because he has a better chance of beating Federer who the winner is likely to have to beat and Nadal is likely to be number 2 seed at Wimbledon.

If I put Federer it's obvious he would get a very high % of the votes, and he's obviously the most likely.

Murray's got a pretty decent shot too.

As for Nadal? Who knows.

Yeah, I also think Djokovic is hopeless on grass with his movement. He slides around instead of taking small steps.

Most definitely.

As for Murray, I think he'll eventually break thru at USO or AO, but IMO, I don't think he'll ever win Wimbledon. [too much pressure, media, etc.]

outside of federer, its nadal, roddick, murray who are the three biggest contenders
wimbledon and djokovic just do not go together (djokovic keeps falling and slipping too much on grass), del potro (um, hewitt took him out in straights last year), davydenko does not give a toss, soderling (if he does not run into federer again, could have a decent run).

some dark horses are hewitt (he won wimbledon before, and his results at wimbledon last few years have not been too shabby either for a player of his ranking), gasquet (if he ever gets his act together), baghdatis (he had a good run a few years ago at wimbledon IIRC), tommy haas

I think either Roddick or Nadal. I'd imagine that Nadal's chances will rise or fall dramatically depending on what happens at Roland Garros. If he wins, I'd put him as second favourite for Wimbledon (after Federer). Obviously, it depends how Federer does at Roland Garros too. If he loses first round (unlikely, but you never know), I'd think twice as choosing him for a favourite for Wimbledon. But then again, how many times has he surprised us with wins when he wasn't playing well? Roddick should feel confident, provided he doesn't get Federer in his half of the draw. Murray? I'm not too sure. Doubtful at best.

clearly Roddick taking his current shape and how close he was last year

most unlikely is Del Potro

it would be an idiotic thread if he _were_ in the poll since he would win it by a landslide. what would be the point of asking? its about who is the next most likely.

There's only one former champion in this poll, and he's currently unbeaten in seven matches at SW19.

Roddickominator

Nadal, followed by Roddick.

2 things. Rafa's game translates pretty well to grass. Also, everybody that troubles Nadal is far less effective on grass(with the possible exception of Murray, a match i'd like to see).

Roddick's best chance at another Slam is Wimbledon...there are just so few players that can really play on grass anymore. Andy is one of the better in this respect.

I would love to see Roddick win. I would even take him over Fed this year and I NEVER take anyone over Fed at a slam!

I absolutely never want to see Murray win Wimbledon or any slam or anything else for that matter.

however Delpo shows he's a quick learner. I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes a big contender in the future, like Roger did on clay.

He would be a rare, read I can't remember any of the top of my head, case of someone who has movement problems on a surface becoming comfortable there.

I'm not going to evalute those close to zero chances of these players... I mean, what probability is more likely to happen: 0,00001 or 0,00000001? I tend to think NONE.

Roddick for sure - he is playing really well and Del Potro won't get far mainly because he isn't good at grass i watched him play Hewitt and he sucked. I think Gasquet, Hewitt (Hip pending) or Gulbis could be good darkhorses. That is if they are actually playing well- (Gulbis because he took Rafa to 4 sets in 08 and he is good on Grass)

He doesn't move well, he doesn't return well on grass where Agassi could and his flat ballstriking doesn't suit an uneven surface like grass.
