That is nice. It's not that particular though, I've heard many stories like this in my hometown. A friend of my mother's has been the graveyard keeper for 40 years, and he said he'd seen many dogs staying around their masters' tombs forever, so he gave them food and tried to take care of them.

This story is pre-dated almost a century by that of Greyfriars Bobbie of Edinburgh, Scotland.

Here's a link for anyone wanting to read his story.

Can't imagine sitting in a cinema watching Richard Gere pet a dog for two hours. So went to Rotten Tomatoes where the critics judged it ''rotten.''

I couldn't watch it. I owed an Akita they are beautiful dogs. But they are big strong dogs so by the time when she had to be put to sleep. I was older with arthritis and while I wanted another Akita I didn't think I could handle one. Then we heard that there was this full blooded Tri-Color Collie being fostered by the woman that found her. The local humane society has people that foster dogs till owners can be found. So we now have a beautiful Collie, but we still miss our Akita

Awesome, adorable dog. :) I can't stand Richard Gere

I imagine if you took the dog to the funeral/memorial and he saw/sniffed the body, he'd know and move on more successfully. Animals are better than people at dealing with the basics: birth, death, hunger, sex, etc.
