Roddick's path to the semifinal....

This is getting almost comical, I mean as if the Indian Wells draw wasnt enought, if I would belive in conspiracies I would think USTA is giving Roddick a free ride, here is Roddick's monster draw to SF:

R2:Andreev (most difficult opponent in the draw....)

R3:Stakhovsky

R4:Robredo or Becker

QF:

Almagro or Chardy or Belluci or Rochus

Overall h2h against remaining players in draw:21-2 (both losses to Andreev)

cake draw, wouldn't expect any less being in the us.

If I didn't know better, I'd think some supernatural force really wants him to win another big tournament. Thankfully he can't seem to take advantage of these cake draws. I mean, he could play a high school girl in the final and he still probably wouldn't win Miami.

well it's the only way he can do well in big tournaments
Step #1: avoid all the guys who own him by being placed in a soft spot of the draw.
Step #2: have the top seeds in his section lose early
Step #3: have the remaining guys in his section be his bitches
and this all adds up to Roddick doing well :spit:

I actually think Stakhovsky could trouble Roddick though  He has a flashy game. If he's on he could be trouble.

I agree though, it's such a joke. Then we're gonna be hearing about how "Roddick is back" or "Andy is in such great form again" :rolls: :o

Lot of pointless bickering in this topic. Luck is part of the game, if the "better players" lose early it is all on them.

If Nalbandian beats Nadal but of course then loses the following match then Roddick's cakewalk draw will also include the SF..:o:eek:

some players have a lot of luck throughout their careers (see troicky so far), whilst others are usually unlucky. theres a law for this, forgot the name.

You think Nalbandian would be a cakewalk for Roddick? If David played well enough to beat Nadal, he could certainly take out Roddick too.

What I meant is Nalby beats Rafa but then loses before the SF.

That is the right spirit! Lets hope he plays Melzer in the final so he can finally win a big tournament...

No surprise, just add this onto the mountain of cakewalk draws that have been keeping him in the top 10 for the last 5 years.

I am confused how the USTA (which does not run the Miami tournament) arranged for Djokovic to lose to Rochus, Monfils to withdraw, and Ljubicic to retire.

What power they must have.

Yes.. Cause only Roddick gets cake draws for most of his career.

Idiots. I have no doubt Roddick might fuck this one up, too... But to say people rig shit is useless. It's not like a win like this means much except for his own confidence.

aussie_fan
03-27-2010, 05:14 AM
Yes, the draw is rigged because Djokovic lost to Rochus plus injuries to Monfils and Ljubicic, it happens sometimes, get over it.

Yes, Roddick gets all the luck, uh huh.

How would you like to have had to go against Federer in four grand slam finals?

you really are clowns - telling me the draws are rigged, and then going out passive, saying ooh well, even if he does win it - means nothing. typical bullshit

Definitely been lucky as hell. He doesn't much enjoy playing Querrey, that could have been unpleasant.

What a bunch of clowns here. It's not his fault that Ljubicic (who just beat him btw) are injured and Nole lost.

It's scary how many cry-babies post on this forum.

Roddick has won a slam, 4 masters events, the Davis Cup, been world #1 and is one of the top players of the decade. He has a great chance of making yet another major SF or even final appearance. Deal with it.

It's looking like yet another year-end top 10 for Roddick. He's #2 for 2010 and is odds on for the semis. Interestingly, out of Roddick's 8 year-end top 10s, only 3 are top 5.

Except Nadal hasn't ever made the US Open finals. And Roddick has never made the Australian Open or French Open finals.

But yes, Nadal is too easy. He owns Federer so easily. Only loses because he's injured. And warm regards.

OMG they are so powerful... No wonder Roddick is in top 10 with draw like that , USTA should be great example for those British guys, they should do the same thing at Wimbledon for Murray

Roddick criminally underated as always. Yes this is an easy draw but everyone gets them sometimes. It seems especially easy for Roddick because he is so good at consistently beating lower ranked guys.

As always ability to differentiate between a gamestyle that is disliked and a gamestyle that's bad is minimal. This is what leads people to the conclusion that Roddick is so lucky.

Now, I dont belive USTA rigged the draw for Roddick, but people keep mentioning he had Djokovic and Ljubicic in the draw does realise that Djokovic is the easiest top 4 Roddick could face in QF and Ljubicic is the oldest player in top 20 and most would consider easier than lets say Gonzalez or Verdasco who are both seeds he could play in rd4?

Max Power
03-27-2010, 07:47 PM
You guys do realize that Roddick drew Federer for the Indian Wells quarterfinals, don't you? And Djokovic and Ljubicic in Miami? It isn't the USTA's fault if the top seeds in Roddick's quarter lose upsets. Or are you claiming the USTA is sending out turncoats to poison the seeds in Roddick's quarter or slip steroids to their opponents? Maybe they had someone take a crowbar to Ljubicic's back before he came out on court?

...Did you, perchance, watch any of the Indian Wells tourney last week? Do you know who last beat Roddick on the ATP Tour? Are you familiar with Roddick's history against, say, Ferrero, Youzhny, Stepanek, or Berdych? And do you think that Roger Federer (seeded to meet Roddick in the quarters at Indian Wells)is an ideal quarterfinal opponent for him?
