how about MTF stops overreacting after a player hits a hot streak?

marcRD

No court suits his game except maybe RG where he still has no chanse. I think he could win the master cup on a hot week like this one, but qualifying to get there will be difficult.

only if he ends up in the opposite half to federer and someone knocks out federer before the final, and only if ljubicic even gets to the final in the first place..., so many 'only ifs'...

actually i dont think he even had a hot week, its more lucky than good imho. no way he will be able to beat 3-4 top players in a row over a 5 set format.

I love it when one player has a hot week they can all of a sudden be in contention for slams.

Answer to the question is simple: NO.

quarterfinal would be good for him and good achievement if you look his slam record

Goran was still 2 months shy of his 30th birthday when he won Wimbies.

Goran loved Wimbledon, Ljubo only plays good in RG. Doubt he is going to get to another SF there, but surprises do happen...

It would be fun, but it will never happen. Maybe you don't remember, but there's this guy named Federer who's actually really good at winning Grand Slams. I don't see Ljubicic beating him or many of the other top 5 in a best-of-five format.

He hit a hot streak when all the best players were in a slump (and Nadal just played a subpar match). Never ever going to happen in a slam. Well, maybe not never, but not soon enough for Ljuba anyway. You have to beat Fed to win a slam. He doesn't have it in him.

Thats all it takes for a one Slam winner, to get hot at the right time. I would think Lubjo could have a decent chance at Wimbledon or the USO, if he plays with the physical and mental attitude he did at IW. Not likely to happen, but I hope it does!

If there was a GS played indoor on a fast surface then he might have a chence.
RG= impossible
Wimbledon=impossible for him
US Open: maybe, maybe if he has a hot 2 weeks as in Indian Wells.

Realistically Ljubo will not win a Slam.

There is a reason why Truba never advanced past 3rd round of US Open. Actually, he even got to the 3rd round just twice.

Fast courts don't suit him in ALL conditions - only if he faces mediocre servers. Because he's pretty much useless returning good serves on such courts. And because it's super-easy to hit a winner against him there. IW-like surface (slow HC) suits him much more; because his serve is so great that even there he gets plenty of freebies, but it helps him return more 1st serves than on fast courts, and makes hitting winners against him somewhat harder.

In USO, most decent servers become almost unbreakable for Truba, so there are like 20 people who can realistically dispatch him. Therefore, chances of him winning USO were very low even in his prime. Today, it's next to impossible, a marginally higher chance than RG. In fact, if there was no Rafa around, I'd even say he'd have more chances to win RG than USO (like 2% versus 1% LOL).

I'd say AO is the slam where he had most chances... like 5%. :haha: NHF Truba, but his game is way too limited for a higher percentage...

IMO reaching another GS QF would already be a major accomplishment for Legenda considering how poorly he does at slams.

Totally agree. He did OK at Madrid last year for the same reason as IW: fast airspeed makes his serve nasty, slow surface means he can return a bit and can't be hit through too easily.
