I think this'll be a great match. I honestly dunno who'll win but I think whoever wins this will win the title

Soderling should win this hence Roddick has played mugs and turkeys along the way.

Andy's 4th time in the SF here at IW. Lost to Hewitt (2005) and Nadal (2007, 2009) in previous appearances.

Despite the h2h, this has got to be by far Andy's best chance of making the final. It remains the only major American event he hasn't won.

Well, this surely is a tough call.

Söderling looked great today, but at the same time, still showed signs of his mental vulnerability - not being able to close out the match in straights, DF'ing in the TB.

Roddick on the other hand is of course by far the more experienced player, and seems to be doing very well as well.

Ugh. Okay, when put a gun against my head, I'd say Roddick in three, but I wouldn't at all mind to be proven wrong.

Best of luck to both of them, and may it be a great match! :yeah:

Soderling's first semifinal on this level.

A tie-break should be a key to this match. I remember that 2 years ago I wrote on MTF that tie-breaks would be crucial for Soderling's breakthrough. Last year he was sucking in tie-breaks once again but won amazingly important tie-breaks against Pics and Nadal in Paris. This year has been good so far in TB's (record 6-2) but can lose to Roddick 6-7 6-7 and demons will back.

Roddick has a chance because tbs are highly likely. Both players have been nearly unbreakable during the tournament.

Soda should win but ya never know...

Roddick was pathetic against boredo; querrey and even Isner have better groundstokes today then the duck; Soderling is by far the more complete player; not too much trouble for Soders.....

If Robin can get enough returns into play he'll win. Very much 50/50, imo.

Soderling has a 2-0 h2h against Duck and the latter hasn't even won a set against him, not even the three TBs they have played against each other ;)

Besides Toad is the better player now, so I guess he'll win in two or three

I wouldn't be all too sure about that. Results from the past don't give any guarantee on results in the future, whatever the H2H-nuthuggers say.

This might well be Roddick's mighty chance of reaching a MS-final again - and however well Soderling played this evening, he still showed signs of being mentally vulnerable.

This be said, I hope you're right. :)

Of course it's not a 100% thing, but heck no one mentioned it so far so I thought I would say it :p

Vamos Toadie, set up the rematch with Rafa :woohoo:

It's a toss-up, really, but I know who I will be rooting for. I wouldn't be adverse to Toad winning the whole thing. A Söderling - Nadal rematch in the final would be all too sweet (and I wouldn't care one way or the other who ended up the victor, even if Nadal quite obviously has the edge, based on previous results here).

It's pretty much a guarantee that Roddick beats Robredo/Melzer.

Robin is 2:0 I believe head to head with Andy. And in my opinion, Soderling by far had the most difficult draw by paper out of all the semifinalists, and he has yet to drop a set along with Roddick (however Roddick had a much easier draw). Watching his matches, he looks the sharpest as well. Nadal looks sharp as well, however considering the opponents they have faced, I think Soderling should be given more credit since he just took out 2 top 10 seeds in a row convincingly.

I really think Robin might take this title. As for the Roddick match, I think Soderling in 2.

Second serve points from both players will be won by Soderling.

Well if Roddick plays aggressive tennis, I wouldn't be surprised to see him win, but if he plays pusher tennis, then it would be hard to go against Soderling.

Anyway Soderling in 3.

I totally agree with Soderling's mental midgetry but Roddick has the same sort of tendencies.

Roddick has pretty much coasted to the SF so far. He doesn't really seem dominant at the moment.

I want to believe that Soderling will step it up against him and head to the final.

Only if there's a hurricane on Sunday.

If no hurricane, Söderling has a chance. However I think it's slim, Rafa's on a mission here. Roddick won't beat Nadal regardless of surface or conditions.

In this match, I go with Roddick in 3, Söderling is the lesser of these 2 mentally.

EDIT: :haha: the hurricane came earlier ;) both Roddick and Söderling have an excellent chance to take the title now.

Soderling is one player I want to see as a slam winner. Of course, Roddick is all time favourite/top of the list to win a second slam.

I will put these two way above Nadal, Novak, Murray and Del Po. Roger can win as many more as he wants (he's an exception).

When Roger said "Don't worry, you are too good a player not to win a slam" to Andy Murray, I thought about Andy. Did Roger say same to him in the past??
