Solid win by Sweaty Robin de Wood :D

Good win, Robin. He's got some more gears I believe. He'll need it against Murray. I've got a feeling he will beat the scot in their first meeting in four years (can't see Andy losing to Mugro).

Tsonga didn't looked good from the start of the tournament

No drama here. A rather dull, listless performance from Tsonga.

Yes, good match from Soda , who got Tsonga running all over the place when the ball was in play. Which was rare since Tsonga seemed almost unable to return even Söderlings second serves today. :)
Well, now on to Murray probably which i hope that he'll put up a good fight against! :)

Tsonga picked up his game a bit mid second set, but it was far too late.

Three convincing and impressive wins thus far :)

This Soderking is good (as long as you don't ask him to volley).

I hope he'll beat Murray but seriously doubt it.

One king to rule them all, time to punish Murray for the brain damage he has caused to opponents and tennis fans with his anti-tennis.

I'm curious whether Tsonga is going to be Soderling's pigeon. In their 3 matches Tsonga didn't even play a tie-break against the Swede :o It's weird given the fact Soderling isn't a marvellous receiver.

They are both big hitters, it may be a case where Söderling simply is more comfortable with matches that lack rythm and where both players go for broke, Tsonga may like when there is alot of exciting rallies and he can lift his game as the audiance gets involved. I cant find anything specific that makes Söderling a bad matchup for Tsonga.

Tsonga also has a bad record against Del Potro who also is a big player with a big game.

Good theory. Tsonga is an awful receiver so no surprise he can't break Soderling's serve but I'm a little bit surprised he has problems on own serve. In their matches I'd rather expect scorelines like 7-6 7-5 or 6-4 3-6 7-6.

Looking at today's match solely, it's because Robin pushes Tsonga way behind the baseline with his heavy hitting. Tsonga eventually loses depth and Robin can step in and do his thing. Not aggressive enough in other words. As for his servegames, maybe mix the serve up and go for serve-volley or just take better advantage of the first shot.

I remember he volleyed very well during Wimbledon last year. But whatever, maybe it's just something about the grass.

Tsonga usually does badly against big servers/hitters: Karlovic, Toad, Isner, Duck
