Great stuff Rafa! :wavey:

Ancic was an error maching, but Rafa was destroying the ball today. He looked as good as he did at the beginning of last year.

With Davy out of his quarter and after the shoddy display from Djokovic earlier, I like his chances of reaching the final.

Mario  He had a good week. :)

Nice stuff from Rafa. :yeah:

Ancic wasn't really a proper test today but regardless, Rafa is playing very well. His serving and returning today I thought were excellent.

Ancic is done. Too slow, too weak. Serve, once a weapon, is now nothinh more than ordinairy. Painful to watch.

Ancic would beat Nadal only in the 2nd round of Queens Club if the Spaniard was tired after winning Roland Garros.

Nice 110 mph f/h :D

Lovely to Ancic at net :awww: (said he was happy to see him back)

Cute interview with SKY after the match. (he liked the shorts better in the design pics than he does IRL)

We'll see how he does next match.

Very impressive performance from Rafa, much more winners than UEs, great job! :bounce: :hatoff:
(and his chances of defending his points at IW are looking better and better with all of the other top dogs looking (very) mediocre so far ;)).

But of course... it was against Mario, who, in all honesty, isn't at all back to proper ATP level. So it's difficult to draw any conclusions but right now I feel very positive about Rafa's chances here anyways. :)

That was a bit too easy for Rafa.

Anyways, bigger news - apparently Rafa is ditching the shorts at the end of the week.

Could be an interesting one next against Querrey/Isner.

Ancic wanting to beat Rafa from behind the baseline :spit:

total obliteration.

Nadal actually played really well; which is a far cry from the other mugs who won. Nadal will win IW.

total obliteration.

I know, right? That's what I was thinking. But the alternative would be to come to net and get passed. Ancic is overmatched in this matchup.

Did he really hit a 110mph forehand? I'll need to catch the replay of the match

That and the forehand passing shot that bent in from the tramlines were the 2 highlights of the match.

Domination. Rafa has it back. This is what happens when someone plays a healthy Rafa. 2 and 2 drubbing

How did you guys like that net cord that Rafa dealt with? He answered back with one of the craziest angles I've ever seen.

I love how people will write off mario's comeback after he plays a top5 player (who was on fire today btw) in his first atp tournament back :o the man couldn't practice properly for three years, give him a break :o

If Nadal faces Federer in the final he will win, the ball just jumps so high and the courts are ultra slow. I think Rafa should be odds favorite to win the whole thing here. Querrey next round could be the most difficult task in the road to the final.

Rafa played awesomely and this court really suits his game :yeah:

Ancic is not a real indicator of his capacity though, the guy was just not in the same league today

I would love to see Rafa playing some of the top dogs to know exactly where he is :D

This court is definitely one of the better if not the best hardcourt for Nadal. The wind can be a wildcard here though.

That's what I thought as well. I was undecided on whether Murray or Nadal would win this event but after watching Nadal play, I gotta go with him. The slow court suits him and the windy conditions hinder his whole game a lot less than the game of the flat hitters.

Rafa didn't seem at his best in his first match but today he was just too good -as good as is his better days at least. Ancic never had a chance...

First Delpo, then Davy, and today almost the Djoker ... the HC Tennis Gods must be smiling on Rafa. Some impressive highlight reel shots with the forehand and deft touch at net, as usual.

Things are shaping up nicely for Rafa, but beating Djoko in the semis will be a herculean task. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a Naderer Final :drink: .

[... and Koenig on Nadal’s shorts -- “I doubt the designer will be getting their contract renewed.”]

Mario can't yet compete with the top guys but nevertheless he had an excellent week considering that not long ago he was losing matches in futures.
He has 3 months to be ready for Davis Cup.

Nadal at his HC best, very nice performance. Will be interesting to see if he can deliver it against someone who can play.
Loved the 4 vs 24 baseline points won stat. Sums up the match.

Wow..this was one of the worst matches I've ever witnessed! Moonballing like I've never seen before, even from Ancic. And not being able to punish Nadals short strokes...was laughing when I watched this match...

A fit Ancic would have lost 5 and 4, don't be fooled

Yeah it was hard to think how Ancic would trouble Nadal on the return...even so, two points (excluding the 3 double faults) was a bit pathetic. :tape:

However, nice that Ancic had the opportunity to play in a top event again, and he did well to win each of his two previous rounds. Hopefully he will become a regular face on the main tour again. I wish him well.

And it was nice to see Mario smile before the match, it was such a joy to see Mario back on court. Not much he could do against Rafa but I wish him well too.

This match doesn't say anything about Rafa's form yet.

Which one of them do you have in mind to get killed out there most? :p

I'm sure the other top dogs will play much better in the next rounds and vs Rafa should it come to that.

Nadal back on track  can't wait for him to regain what belongs to him: RG and W.

Classy as always.

Let's see him against Isner first. Probably the first true test if Isner can deliver the form of late...
Two opposing styles as well, should be interesting.

ancic was much much more better in 3. set aganist bennteau. he should attack rafa in any situation. but rafa is obviously better player. he will be fine because he is health now.
rafa played like he had no any problem with injuries. he really can win the whole thing. nice to see he is back. tennis needs him.

querrey could win against rafa, but isner can't.

:wavey:yes he did!!!! He really KILLED that ball.:worship:From the middle of the court.
Flatting the ball out. He is just not a moonballer..obviously.
I have seen Del potro on 110 mph but no one else.
Maybe Korolev.

Rafa seems good but need more winning matches.
He is not used to that any longer.
