Machi Gonzalez torn his knee ligament while playing football, he'll try to play Roland Garros, but it's uncertain.

And what about Cuevas, Mannarino, De Chaunac, Tipsarevic, Greul?

Thanks for this thread BTW, very useful!

Greul is just sick (stomach bug).
Mannarino is supposed to come back next week in Jersey after having been out 6 months to finally sort out his knee problem.

I'm looking for news about Andi Beck, he was coming back in IW from a long injury break and retired again in the 1st round of Sunrise, I hope it's not because of his elbow again.

He had more surgery on his ankle again towards the end of last year. Had it originally in April last year, but seemed to come back too quickly and damaged it again. I think he was planning to come back April/May time, but no definite news as yet.

Some website writes that Tursunow would like to come back in Wimbldeon

Tursunov, who had surgery on his foot on Feb. 19 to relieve nerve damage in his foot, is hopeful of a return to the circuit in June for The Wimbledon Championships.

“It’s going to be a long climb back,” Tursunov said Wednesday

He spoke in the French sportsnewspaper "L'Equipe" today and is really worried as he just doesn't know what causes that pain coming back again and again

There's nothing to operate on, there's an inflammation coming again and again ... and they just don't know what causes it

could u plz separate palyers which are not injured anymore (make 2 columns, or put them on bottom of the list. TY) like wawrinka or almagro

since there is the place where they rejoin the tour, I don't see the need for that, it will be easier for me to count injuries at the end of the year ;)

I'm not counting the ones before I started the thread, but if anyone has a list, please let me know and I can include them, but I won't start looking by myself (lazy bum, I know ;) )

only injuries, not really illnesses, so people like Roger or Nole won't be counted

You've read that many people here complain or are confused about that : what people are interested in this thread is mostly news about the current situation.

Nobody can understand why it would be complicated to make two separate lists, one with the current situation, one with players who interest you for a historical point of view

And I'm not even sure that your "historical summary" ever interests anybody else, or makes anything else than confusing people.

Here is a common space to be useful to people. If you are interested in making a "historical job" for yourself, you can perfectly do it on your own computer. I always do that.

OK I'm awfully annoying, I've been very often been said that in that forum, but there's a misunderstanding : I didn't ever pretend making this thread myself. Actually it's the opposite : I've given up many threads in the past because other people did better than me. Because I think that threads, esp sticky threads, donot belong to anybody but are rather for common well-being.

If I read people keeping on saying that they don't understand why players who are back are in the same list as the others, then it's only an effect of my sempiternal annoying mentality, sorry for that :o :worship:

I didn't intend to be rude at all, but as it's clear that I was from what you say, it's just that I'm naturally rude, that's the reality, no need to find any excuses like second language or anything.

I'm not made for forums as I don't care much about personals, I care more about facts and opinions, and the share is opposite among many people in these forums. That's the reality and I have to draw the consequences.

Okay.... well injuries at the AO this year:
Baghdatis (shoulder) - returned at Rotterdam
Gil (knee) - returned at CdS
Hernandez (back) - returned at Santiago
Nadal (knee) - returned at IW
Soderling (elbow) [withdrew from Kooyong, played AO]
Youzhny (wrist) - returned at Rotterdam
Koubek had some sort of illness too, not sure if you're including that (returned at Belgrade CH)
(These are not including injuries already included such as DP's wrist and Simon's knee)

Do you want injuries at all the MM tournaments too, there are probably another 20 or so then...

Arkulari
04-13-2010, 04:47 AM

if there are injuries in challengers and mm events, those should go as well, the idea is to keep track on every injured player on tour, doesn't matter if he's popular or not :)

Synesthetic

You're welcome :D

Also I noticed there are a few from Indian Wells (which I thought you were including e.g. Almagro) missing from the current list, additionally from what I remember of the 500 events (which I followed more closely, though I had to look up some of the specific injuries again...):

IW: Cuevas (back) - returned at Miami
Dubai: Llodra (hamstring) - returned at IW
Acapulco: Monaco (abdominal strain) - returned at IW
IW: Starace (back) - returned at Sunrise CH
Rotterdam: Troicki (arm injury) - returned at Dubai
Rotterdam: Youzhny (hamstring) - returned at Dubai
[IW: Greul (illness) - returned at Miami]
[Memphis: Chardy (illness) - returned at Delray Beach]

For the others you'd have to go through each draw individually or something, maybe someone else can help you with that as well

if there are injuries in challengers and mm events, those should go as well, the idea is to keep track on every injured player on tour, doesn't matter if he's popular or not
In that case definitely make two lists (current / past injuries), otherwise it will be too long.

Thanks Arkulari. Separating the 2 lists is really much better. I really appreciate all your work.

several players already back on tour but still in the "injuried" list:

Lleyton Hewitt - Hip Injury - Houston (next tourney is Barcelona)
Nicolas Kiefer - Groin Surgery - Montecarlo (got WC to Munich)
Daniel Koellerer - Elbow Injury - Casablanca (not sure what's his next, but he did play Casablanca last wk).

P.s. Oh, I see that you already have it on the list. Thanks.

Nadal is not injured, thinking that is outrageous  (his words in the press conference today). Only smart scheduling :worship:

I don't know what Robredo has, but it's not good to retire in Barcelona, which is a city he loves from what I heard

No problem, it's kind of fun watching the lists grow :D (although injuries are not a good thing!)

Here are some past injuries to players that aren't listed at the moment, mostly lesser known ones this time (and in a similar timeframe to the ones currently listed in the OP):

Mohammad Ghareeb - back injury (Dubai) - hasn't played since
[edit: though that's largely due to his ranking I guess, not sure if you want to include this]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Denis Istomin - hamstring injury (IW qualifying) - returned at Miami
Jesse Levine - groin injury (Memphis qualifying) - returned at IW
Wayne Odesnik - ankle injury (Delray Beach) - returned at IW
Christophe Rochus - back injury (Delray Beach) - returned at Davis Cup

You can put Roddick on the injured list since he is out of Rome due to fatigue..

Yeah, but according to reports Delpo is practicing again, both on and off the court and if everything goes well he will try to get a WC into either Estoril, Munich or Belgrade.

You're right.

I find it weird that Florian Mayer is playing Estoril instead of Munich. I would have expected him to play in his home nation where he could get some crowd support...

only for the top-players, behind them Munich is rather better.

But I think Munich can put more money to attract Del Potro precisely because they lack top-players ;)

And I've read that Munich is the same altitude as Madrid (600 m)
