Solid performance from the Russian.

The end of the match was sad because Gulbis saved double match point and had even 30-15 on Davydenko's serve in the 10th game but it was still very long way to the victory. Denko is rock solid in those situations :(

The first three games were a Gulbis fireworks, then Nikolaj took control, Gulbis' rebreak in the second set did not change that

Poor Ernests.. He played well but Koyla was so solid and consistent. Good luck to Davy for the rest of the tourney.

Apparently there isn't much wrong with Davydenko. Solid performance! :)

Kolya did play well but Ernests was very hit and miss today. One game he would hold to love and the next he would be broken to love. Too many unforced errors from him today, I think it was 36 errors while Davy made only 16. Davy was leading 5-2 and serving for the match 40:15 but Gulbis saved the two match points and broke back, from that point on he started to play better again but Davydenko didn't let him break back a second time so it was really a sad end, yes

Bloody russian just waiting for Ernests to make mistakes... still nice performance and hoping for some good results on smaller tournaments again

The wild man from Latvia ... ughh, so frustrating. He’s exciting to watch when he’s on, but he has no patience or defense whatsoever! He could really use a guy like Gilbert to get his head screwed on straight and to help him with strategy, tactics, and conditioning.

On a side note, thank you Tennis Channel for your superb coverage and for STAYING WITH EACH MATCH instead of the epileptic seizure inducing coverage from ESPN. Thanks also for Koenig, Goodall and Adler ... and please, I BEG YOU PLEASE, no Gimelschmuck for the prime-time matches. Thanks in advance! ;)

Expected victory, no way would Kolya think about losing to the likes of Gulbis.

Besides Koyla trying to choke this at the end, good match by him.

Good for tennis. Gulbis needs to learn how to control his aggression before he wins anything big.
