a disappointing Ryan Sweeting...
i can't get why he misses all the easy key matches

Hit or miss ultra-aggressive (ie. reckless) game. Inconsistent focus and overall mental strength. Just overall inconsistency and maybe immaturity. I've given up on him reaching his potential; I don't see it happening anymore.

Kei had a good tournament, but I always knew Robby in the US on American hard court was likely to be too tough for him coming back. But at the very least, he's winning some matches, and he's back on court, that's what really matters.

As far as Robby, he should win this event. I think it's going to be Robby vs. Dabul in the final.

I can't call the second semi but it'd be 60-40 in Dabul's favour for me.

I can't call the second semi but it'd be 60-40 in Dabul's favour for me.

What makes you think that? Kuz just beat Dabul 6-2 7-5 just last week, has had the tougher draw this week and is on home soil.

Dabul did beat Kuz 2 years ago 7-6 6-3 but that wasn't in America (I dont think) and Kuz was just a pup.

The only 2 reasons Dabul will win this is he's ranked better and the revenge factor.

I'd go Kuz 55 and Dabul 45.

He was in a way gifted his ranking points, since he was a lucky loser in probably the weakest ATP tournament on his favorite surface. If Mardy Fish didn't withdraw, where would Rajeev be?

Rajeev didn't lose to anyone at Newport. Since he was guaranteed a lucky loser spot, he decided to rest up an injury and forfeit the final qualifying match.

That points towards someone playing above their level for a week

He didn't play above his level. He is a top player on true grass.

against mediocre players

Sam Querrey, Oliver Rochus (ranking 55), Jesse Levine and even Alejandro Falla (ranking 58) are not mediocre players.

And IMO, that constitutes as a fluke win, and his level has been exposed. He's on borrowed time now. The season is more than 7 days.

What's so hard to understand about the fact that Rajeev is great on grass?

That being said, I don't disagree with you entirely. Rajeev is not top 100 on hard courts and must improve to reach that level. I would place him among the top 150 on this surface, as he is demonstrating this week.

I know he didn't lose to anyone, but he was a lucky loser. Would he have won his last qualifying match? Who knows. He literally was gifted a spot in the draw. What if he qualified and got a different place in the draw? What if his second Q match wasn't a withdrawal? These are questions he didn't have to answer, because of other players circumstances. Not his fault, but definitely a golden platter laid out for him.

He played above is TRUE level, which is taking in account his ability on hard and clay, which is not good enough for ATP level tournaments, as you admit. His grass level is very high, possibly. We have to see him do it again. He didn't do much in his other grass events, although he played good players on the surface. Levine nor Falla are grass players. It can be easily said they are mediocre on grass. Rochus is a very good win, but he was out of the top 100 during that time, and coming off injuries, he was just starting to find his level. Sam admittedly played poorly in the final, and almost won the match, but I give credit to Raji to taking the opportunity handed to him. I wont make excuses, he had a great week. But he hasn't actually proven that isn't anything but a fluke, and my beef isn't about him on grass, it's about him at Australia or Miami or Paris, where his chances of winning are around 5% at the most, and he hasn't actually done much to earn that position. He is about a top 150-175 or so player on hard, and that's the surface he plays the most by far. He's not top 300 on clay, and he's about top...................40-ish possibly on grass, maybe 30 range. Taking everything into account, you have a player about 100-130. Which is to me his appropriate ranking.

I don't want to offend anyone or his fans, but it's hard to respect the fact his ranking is based SOLELY on 2 results out of a 10 month season. Honestly, his Newport event is a fluke until proven otherwise, but something in me thinks he is going to actually surprise people and do something major again.

its a joke right ?
how can you said veteran to a player that today is his 26 birthday ? and alex will be 23 in one week ,so its only 3 years difference .maybe you can said experience player but for sure not veteran .

Ginepri lost only 1 set this week ( in 1st round against Ryler de Heart a 4-6 6-4 6-3 ) and Dabul last 2 matches wins in 3 sets(against Alex Kuznetsov and Nick Lindahl).
Think that Ginepri has more power this week and he should win this tournament.

Go Ginepri!

26 is about average age for a tennis player, maybe a little older. Experienced player is an appropriate word too, all I meant was a player who is a veteran of the challenger circuit and has been through tough matches on this level, and won them.

I don't hate Raji, if his ranking were appropriate, I don't think the venom he gets would be around. It does annoy me, though, that he's over-ranked in an extreme way, has shown he cannot win ATP matches, and the matches he does win are almost solely based on opponents struggling, and/or him hitting aces. The Newport event was clearly a fluke event, a good one, but a fluke. Sam said he played at about 60% of his level in the final, and almost beat Raji playing over his head. He's won around 4 ATP matches since.

If Raji were ranked about 125 or so, I wouldn't feel the way I do. I have no hate for him, I simply don't think he should be taking up spots in draws outside of grass in ATP events, over players who could actually win matches or at the very least, make it interesting and bring entertainment to the fans.

All the whining folks do about someone's ranking is pointless. Every player earns the rank they have by winning matches or losing matches. It doesn't matter whether you have one great result and 51 lousy ones; you rank where you rank. You can "feel" somebody should be ranked higher or lower, but it's just silly, because they're ranked where they are because of their results. Ram is in whatever draws he's in, because his ranking merits that spot and other players have not been able to achieve what he has achieved. If he can't sustain it, he'll drop down. If you get get upset because of what Ram's or any other player's achievements have earned him, then another logical conclusion is to get upset at those players who have not been able to achieve enough to earn themselves the draw spot that Ram occupies. You just never know what's going to happen in a draw. For example, Vince Spadea lost about a billion matches in a row one year, but his ranking was still good enough to get him a spot in the Wimbledon main draw. And he bounced Greg Rusedski in the first round, in a year when Rusedski was expected to do well. Based on your gripes with Ram's ranking, you could argue that Spadea didn't deserve his spot in the draw. But he earned it, and produced a big win in the process. Don't mean to rant, and don't take it personally, but I just fail to grasp why people get so bent over someone else's hard work and achievement and feel like they should not reap the rewards of their efforts.
