Poor Blake since his rankings fall has been unlucky with draws.

Why is Roddick playing so many MMs?

Blake has lost good ranking and now wherever he goes has to deal with difficult draw

bad luck for blake, but this is what happens when you have a low ranking, there is every chance that u play one of the top players in the first round.

8 games max for Blake.
Poor James.
2R AO VS-ing Delpo, losing in 5; then VS-ing Baghdatis in Rotterdam 1R, now Andy Roddick :o

Only going to get worse for Blake, a huge chunk of his points to defend at Queens and Estoril. See how he likes the draws ranked 80-90.

Real shame, just shows how hard it can be to get back amongst the elite.

Roddick played 4 tie-breaks in the last two matches, who knows, maybe withdraws if another match with Verdasco in San Jose will be tight as well

It's called smart scheduling.

With two big TMS events back to back in Indian Wells & Miami, playing two smaller warm-up events in the United States is smart. Plus he's American. Most Europeans play one small euro event before coming to the States for the TMS events though some Europeans who are also based in the USA tend to play the small US indoor HC swing.

Anyway, the irony is that James was the one who picked the draw :rolls;

Why is Roddick playing so many MMs?

Roddick is no longer a factor in Masters 1000 or higher
Hope this helps

 - well may the 'best' win.
Easy cash, here, unless Ducky tanks. :p

:spit: probably 6-3 6-3 Roddick, given how poorly Blake is playing these days :o

Why is Roddick playing so many MMs?

:spit: cuz he's gotta get those ranking points somehow and show how he's still the "big man" when he plays the lower ranked players  :o He's not gonna be winning any bigger events these days, so he might as well add some more MM titles to his resume.

Plus, he'll bitch all day long about not wanting to play in Europe during the clay season (as some Europeans bitch about playing in the US for long stretches), but Roddick loves playing in the US. He has no problem playing a lot of weeks in a row in his home country, appreciates his top billing here and of course he'll gladly accept those huge appearance fees

Hopefully both these mugs retire and keep this tournament clean.

Not that your post here is particularly bad or anything, but how haven't you won the ACC yet? You're always in fine form.

I suppose for Roddick to tank a little bit. Blake in 3, considering that he won last three matches vs. Andy including last year's walkover at Queen's.

Not sure why you guys are writing-off Blake so easily. He's won the last three in their H2H and Roddick's coming off some tough matches in Frisco [and who knows, injury/fatigue might be a factor?].

I'm going with the upset ... Blake in three ;)

If it was 250, Roddick would tank as he does not need 250 points any more
But as it is 500, Andy is going to go all the way to the final, unless Querrey or Stepanek stop him.
So Andy would win 7-6 6-4. :) Bad luck for James.

Blake needs to play more 250's. Tip that ranking in the right way to avoid these rough draws. And whoever said that's Blake's playing poorly, I think he did pretty damn good at the AO considering another hard draw.

I'm going with the majority and tipping Roddick for this one

Why would he wish to tank in a 500 tournament where he's the defending champion? I see no logic in this.

He didn't need the San Jose 250pts either but still I see him fighting pretty hard, in SF yesterday and today in the F. He could have tanked his SF yesterday as it is a non countable tournament for him but obviously he cares even about 250 tournaments.
