Marseille this week for him, Dubai next. I think we can combine these two.

Marseille draw

(1) SODERLING, Robin SWE - BYE
STAKHOVSKY, Sergiy UKR - BOLELLI, Simone ITA
QUALIFIER - LLODRA, Michael FRA
BRANDS, Daniel GER – (7) BAGHDATIS, Marcos CYP

(4) ROBREDO, Tommy ESP - BYE
ZVEREV, Mischa GER - (WC) GUEZ, David FRA
HAJEK, Jan CZE - QUALIFIER
(WC) RUFIN, Guillaume FRA – (6) YOUZHNY, Mikhail RUS

(8) BENNETEAU, Julien FRA - QUALIFIER
KUNITSYN, Igor RUS - SERRA, Florent FRA
CLEMENT, Arnaud FRA - SEPPI, Andreas ITA
BYE – (3) MONFILS, Gael FRA

(5) SIMON, Gilles FRA - ROCHUS, Olivier BEL
QUALIFIER - QUALIFIER
ROCHUS, Christophe BEL - ISTOMIN, Denis UZB
BYE – (2) TSONGA, Jo-Wilfried FRA

With Söderling and Youzhny likely to withdraw or be tired, he has a fantastic draw and a great chance for a big result here. He so has to take it. Dubai will be way tougher with all the great names there and he won't be seeded.

I don't like his draw,no matter how Soderling supposedly will be tired-he seemed pretty hot to me!Hopefully Markos will be able to beat him anyway and please please let the Dubai draw be as good as possiblE!!

Doubles??lol long time we hadn't seen that.

Against Llodra the next match. Should be a straight set win for Baggy but then Soderling will be a very very tough matchup :help:

another clean backhand winner from Llodra for the break, that's it probably:crying2:

I have no idea how he managed to lose when he started the match so well.

He managed it with hitting sth. like 20% 1st serve in that first set.:D

Llodra is always dangerous on fast hardcourts when his serve is working........ and he always plays well at home, so I don't think the loss is so surprising.

Anyway - it's Dubai next week.

Marcos :o
Now that's 2 real losses for the year. I'm not counting Hewitt (he was injured) and Davydenko (Marcos did as good as he could) :p

IKR! :o
If he wants to get back to the top 10, he needs to get a lot of ranking points so he really can't afford to lose in the second round of Marseille against Llodra, even if it is in his home country

On to Dubai! :drive:

Marcos is second on court tomorrow http://www.atpworldtour.com/posting/2010/495/op.pdf

Good luck Marcos.

He was the most in form player of the tournament and yet Baggy had to commit suicide to lose the match against him.

aaaaand he won:D needed 3 sets however

GL vs. Berrer

*Ljubica*
02-24-2010, 04:05 PM
Congrats Marcos :D Was at work and couldn't follow livescores properly, but seems he got through relatively easily with just that one blip in the second set.

Without Davydenko, this is a REAL opportunity for Marcos to reach a semi final of a 500 event - just hope he can make the most of it, - but not underestimate Berrer who will be fresh and rested.

Ivanatis
02-24-2010, 08:23 PM
Agreed. Berrer will be tough, should be 50:50. Michi is having a great year. Marcos will have a hard time breaking him, but hopefully he will scrape through.

Baghdatis72
02-24-2010, 10:53 PM
Actually Baggy saved 10 break points in the 3rd set so it wasn't as easy as it looked from the 6-1. He can beat Berrer tomorrow.

Pame Baggy :woohoo:

Marcos played very wll today - I was impressed. Hope it's a good match tomorrow.

Marcos is the outsider in this match. In their 3 encounters Nole has been the winner but Marcos got too close. He can beat him if he takes his chances and convert the break points.

He converted 3 out of 16 break point chances and 1 of them was double fault. He is having serious mental issues he needs to sort out if he is ever gonna get where his talent deserves to be.

*Ljubica*
02-26-2010, 05:27 PM
Marcos  He just got tired at the end and ran out of steam. But a semi in an ATP 500 event is no disgrace, and losing in a final set to the World Number 2 is no disgrace either  I'm pleased for Nole but can't really celebrate right now - that was a hellish match-up for me - didn't really enjoy it at all

Baghdatis72

To be honest this is uncacceptable by any means. It's the 16th match he loses against Nole, Nadal or Federer and he had 16 break points from which he took only 3 and 1 was a double fault from Nole. He will never go far with a record like this. It's a clear sign of mental weakness and unless he gets therapy from a professional psychologist he will repeat the same chokes forever. The same pattern repeats again and again. He gets loads of break points, misses most of them, breaks after 6-7 chances and gets broken immediately after. To be honest it's frustrating and pathetic.
After carefully examining his break chances it is evident that he loses them because he loses his concentration and the anxiety takes over which leads to a passive gameplay which is not enough to win the point against the top players.

He needs a mental breakthrough and it's up to him to do it. He proved that he has what it takes and he is completely aware of the situation.
