What a bad loss... Tommy had five setpoints in the first set (well, Istomin saved three of them with aces and one with service winner) followed by a pathetic tie-break as usual. Second set was disgraceful, very very bad play from Haas.. a gift for Istomin. Damn, was hoping to see the German clash against Kohlschreiber on friday

Yeah, that 2nd set was very much that of an old guy not wanting to scrap and play 3 sets in a small tournament. Could have been a bagel even, at 0-3 Haas had to save 2bps with huge serves.
Still, can hardly blame Haas for keeping himself for slams. It's what he's been doing for years, and basically it's working - he can still maintain a decent level in the biggies despite all the injury issues he's had in his career.

How lousy.
Why enter and show up if you can't be bothered to try to win.

Awful. He didn't give a damn either, just stood there as a robot in the 2nd set. Hope it was just an offday and lack of matches, and that he does well in Memphis.
