Lopez was barely moving in the first set. he's at least making it semi-entertaining now. Johnny mac had some pretty harsh words for Feli in the first set, he was pretty disappointed by his efforts. At least he's showing up a little now. Hewitt's playing fine but he had help.

But it was a different Hewitt. Lleyton is as strong as 2 years ago now. He wasn't in Queen's.

Hewitt is playing well, but he doesn't look invincible. Neither does Andy, obviously, but he played a guy who gets stuff back and hustles almost as well as Lleyton today and Andy looked really solid at the baseline and pretty patient. Not saying I think he'll win. but considering Andy had Hewitt almost beat 3 years ago and their improvement trajectories are not exactly the same over the time that's passed, I would think it would not be Roddick going down in flames, even if he were to lose.

Yes Bilbo but Andy is playing better here than he was at Queens also. And this is a better surface for him anyway. And the crowd.

Hewitt definitely plays now stronger than a few months ago in Queen's, but Roddick was spanking winners from all situations, also against Canas who is one hell of a figher and who normally retrieves a lot, but Canas stood no chance against Roddick's power, you could say he got blown out of the building every set, no matter what he tried

um. they both have two more matches to win. let's not get ahead of ourselves :)

Especially considering neither of them have been REALLY tested so far, it's kinda hard to say how they will play when they get to another top player in the other just because they both look great playing players who aren't playing particularly well at all.

See, Neely is a voice of reason. I think it's impossible to tell, there would be things about the match that would favor both the players (Andy would have the crowd, the conditions that he likes, the desire for revenge for 3 years ago, etc. Lleyton would have the confidence of their h2h, the fact that it's best-of-5, etc.). They are both extremely fit, they are both good fighters, and they are both playing well and they both know they have the ability to beat the other.

yea I mean... Lleyton would surely have a great chance to win, but so would Andy. I don't see either of them being blown off the court - if the match actually ever happens anyway - unless one of them plays much differently than they have played thusfar.

Well Neely it seems the most likely to happen, and I don't think either of them will have tough 4th round matches but both could have very tough QF matches in Haas and PimPim. Anything can happen.

If Haas keeps up his form, and both he and Lleyton make it through to the quarters, that could be a danger match....their head to head is fairly close with 3/4 of Haas' wins from hardcourt....the positive is that he wasnt able to win any of those in straight sets, whereas out of 3 of Lleytons wins against Haas on hc, he won 2 in straights

only thing that's questionable about Lleyton is, whether playing two tournaments in two weeks before the US Open will some time catch up to him during this US Open, especially the 2nd week

I like both Hewitt and Haas but I want Haas to win this one more if they both make the quarters and play each other.
