Well done Thomaz in spite of the comedy scoreline

When he's on, he's awesome, but he can go off the boil for no obvious reason and then it's just horrible.

Thomaz just is mentally stronger. He put the second set behind him and took the title away from Monaco. Congrats :D
The key for Thomaz is to build on this. It should be a huge year for him.

The interesting thing with Bellucci is that Win or lose the match is usually decided on his hand. And that is quite important for a player development looking forward, is a sign of much potential.

When Bellucci is playing at a consistent level on a match, he is very hard to stop on clay. Guys don`t know how to deal with that huge lefty ball together with the serve.

Wow, what a comeback. Bellucci wasn't at his best, but still found a way to win. Like he did in all the other matches this week. Impressive mental strength!

I believe he needs to move a little bit better/faster around the court. Other than that, Bellucci has few big weeknesses. Yeah, he misses easy shots at times. But come on, he doesn't play like Juan Monaco...:)

I think that's a good point - I thought Pico was definitely unable to deliver the same power as Bellucci so it was down to whether Bellucci was landing his shots or missing them, it didn't feel like Pico was dictating the play all that much.

I believe that Bellucci has the potential to win Roland Garros in the future.

i really liked how Bellucci was playing during the australian swing. glad he's kept it up here :yeah: Hopefully he can do some damage at iw/miami in a few weeks. I really think he's gonna have a great year, barring injury. :)

I fell bad for Monaco, is this a record for finals lost in a row btw? I don't know if pico can ever recover from this, one too many losses.

Gosh I would like for Pico to win one of these freaking finals one of these days but I like Bellucci so I am happy to see him having success. I hope he builds from this. After showing some promise he faded a bit but has recently shown again his promise. And it is always fun to have a Brazilian player in the mix.

Maybe Pico can get a title in BA- although that did not go well lat year.

monster forehand when he connects properly with that 5 mile backswing. used the drop shot to great effect on big points when he was struggling early in the 3rd as well.

I don't see him ever winning RG or even a masters for that matter though. Good chance he'll win his home event this week...

Surely it can't be worse than Kiefer's record. Monfils's record would also give him a good run for his money. :p

Well done Tomaz! Nice to see that he managed to pull it out in the end after getting bagelled. He's defeated big names (relatively speaking) and fully deserves the title. I do feel for Monaco a bit though, those consecutive final losses on his favourite surface must hurt. He really should have won the final against Robredo in Buenos Aires last year; lost count on how many chances he had that day only to let it slip when it came to the big points.

Still a couple more tournaments to go on clay, I hope Pico bounces back.

I very much feel this Bellucci guy is future Roland Garros champ:bowdown: Monstrous forehand combined with good serve
