Fed. If you want to beat Fed, you need to draw him into BH rallies. Unfortunately for Tsonga, his BH is about as crappy as Feds. And I can't see him overpower Fed in a 5-set match.

Not expecting much, hopefully Tsonga can play at a respectable level and make Federer earn it rather than self-destruct. Of course, playing too passively will have the same consequences.

If Tsonga plays as well as he did the last time he made the semis, he could make life very hard for Federer; we could have a classic match. Unfortunately, he's never played that well before or since.

Problem with players today it seems is they can put together some great tennis but can only do it for a very short amount of time.. Few if any can actually sustain it outside of maybe 1 or 2 players. Tsonga will "davydenko it" against Fed. Put together a great tennis clinic and then fall to country club level the rest of the match

That's about it in a nutshell. They are capable of stringing together 5 or 6 winners and thereafter usual choke city. Murray, Del Pony, Djokovic, Matador saved tennis for a year or two and proved that the pathetic crier is completely beatable. Infact Matador owns him.

We are now back to mug era again with Nadal's injury, Djokovic's illness and Del Pony's wrist injury. Men's tennis without El Matador is very pale. Fluke clowns and 2nd rate pushers and ballbashers viz. Soderbash, Clownfried, Mugwitt, Dulldonkey will take over and bend over every time to Frauderer. Tennis world will continue gloating about this mentally weak fluke clown slams winner if he wins this Australian Open by sheer luck. I hope Murray and Cilic don't kill each other by playing for 5 hours tomorrow. It was proved 'n' number of times that Frauderer cannot fight against mentally tough players.

Very less chance of that happening. Clownfried is too one dimensional, panics and has no defensive skill to annoy Frauderer. Lucky crier is on his way to win his 16th lucky slam. With Djokovic's exit, his draw is 100% handicapped now. A free ride to the final.

Well, the fact is that Nadal has only himself to blame for his injuries. They are direct consequence of his style of play. I mean, don't get me wrong, i'm a big Fed fan, but i respect Rafa greatly, as a player and as a person. But i think everybody here knew that his career wouldn't last over 10 years. His position on the court and tactics over the years are simply putting too much stress on his body. I think 6 GS for him is a great achievement, considering his style of play.

And, BTW, you said that only injuries could stop Nadal from winning everything. That is just BS. He always had hardcourt matches where he was blown off the court, in his prime also ( Tsonga here 2 years ago).

Style of play and his stupid scheduling scheduling at the beginning of last year. That has be terribly devastating and unfortunate for him. Nadal at the time late 08 early 09 was not just playing good. He was hands down playing the best on tour out of anyone and that was cut short. He was at his absolute zenith and as close to unbeatable as he was going to get. Hard to believe what one year does

Federer has been impressive so far in all his matches where he didn`t have to deal with the sun.Against Davydenko at first he could barely hit a ball and after it got a bit later in the day he couldn`t miss.
So if it`s sunny at the start of the match Tsonga has to take quick advantage otherwise it will be tough for him

I have been reading comments on this match all day on and off, so thought I'd take time to add a bit myself. I think Federer is awesome, one of my favorite tennis players but credit to Jo-Wilfred Tsonga for making it this far, considering his form hasn't been great of late. He has great battling qualities, and mental strength and can over power most players if he plays his best. I don't think he will be as tired as Cilic was today and I think he will run Roger a lot closer than what most people think. Tsonga, if he serves really well, like Roddick did at Wimbledon last year for example, has a good chance to make the match a close encounter, and if anything, I'd give Tsonga a a better chance to edge Federer out mentally than Roddick. Federer will most likely prevail but Tsonga is dangerous and if he brings his A game he for sure has a chance. Also as people have pointed out depends a lot on Fed himself.

I will stick my neck on the line and say Tsonga in 5!

Conditions do have some bearing over players performance but I think it only accounts for a very small percentage of the end result. Mainly it is to do with how a player is feeling physically and emotionally on the day and who he is up against.

Fed, 3-1.

Tsonga's played solid so far, Fed as well, but Fed's solid is way better than Tsonga-solid. Tsonga might get a wake-up set but I doubt he can pull it out. However, I thought there's no way Fed could lose to Del Potro at USO last year, and it happened.

People are overestimating Tsonga's serve, Djokovic broke him a pile of times,so unless he plays a completely different match...

Providing Fed avoids a 5-1 lead in any of the sets, Fed should win in 3.

Tsonga will be too strong for Rogi :scared: :scared: :scared: . Had it been pre 2008 Roger then it wouldn't even be close, but Roger's obvious decline and Tsonga's power + athleticism = 4 set win for baby Ali  This will be be bittersweet...the only good thing is that Murray will be guaranteed a win on Sunday against Tsonga :yippee: :yippee:
