This AO there have been many 5-setters [25 so far and counting]::

10 x 1st round
8 x 2nd round
1 x 3rd round
4 x 4th round
2 x QF [and counting]...

-----------So wondering what the record for the most 5-setters in one tournament is:confused::confused:

And many follow the same pattern. 2-0 to 2-2 to 3-2. Mugro-Becker, Tsonga-Mugro, Denko-Nando and now Cilic-Rod. Loads of come-backs from 2-0 down.

yea AO usually has the highest number of 5 set matches each year or maybe FO or USO

Based on results from the ITF website, I'm pretty sure that the Open Era record for 5-setters is held by the '83 USO, which had 35. Also, '69 Wimbledon had 34, but with no tiebreakers in any sets, so that's gotta be the unofficial marathon tournament.

83 USO had:
18 R1
11 R2
3 R3
1 R4
2 QF

The '04 USO also had 34, so this year's AO is a long way from even the record this century :)

Had no idea the 04 USO had so many 5-setters, still 25+ at this year`s AO ain`t bad:devil:
