AO Rd4 (3)Djokovic def. Kubot 6-1 6-2 7-5

Djokovic played well to advance to the quarter-finals.

Kurbot challenged him in the last set well. :)

Djokovic had far more winners than unforced errors. :)

Now Djokovic plays the winner of Tsonga and Almagro! Should be a more interesting match, especially if he has the chance to play Tsonga.

Stats:

Djokovic \ Kubot
Aces 11 \ 4
Winners 49 \ 23
Double Faults 1 \ 4
Unforced Errors 17 \ 25

VERY, VERY sharp performance. 37 winners, 17 UEs. 11 aces, 1 double fault

Kubot coming to the net a lot more in the third set gave him a little bit to think about, but a pretty solid performance by Novak. Good winner to UE ratio.

Kubot played his solid serve and volley tennis only in the third set :) However he made too many double-faults in the most important moments (always when Djokovic had a bp) and served only 4 aces. Despite everything reaching 4-th round of Grand Slam is very big achievement for him :D He should be 65-70 ATP right now :D

Djokovic performance was very high. Many winners and great serving.

Kubot chose wrong tactics for this match. What did he think, that he could outplay D'Joke from the baseline  He should have played his normal tennis - a lot attacking to the net.

Polish fans wityh their "jeszcze jeden"

It's KUBOT not KURBOT. Ditch the R.

From what I saw, Djokovic was solid. I expected him to get tight if Kubot would put pressure on him and that he did in the third. Djokovic really has to work on his forehand IMO, sometimes he hits it as hard as he can and it ends up being shorter than Nadal's defensive forehands. Doesn't hit through it enough.

All said, good work Nole and hope to see you playing Fed in the SF!

Kubot's play reminded me of Nadal for some reason.

You are right. He should have played serve and volley from the beginning, not only in the third:mad:

The only explanation of this I think, his coach would have thought: try to play as long as it possible because the longer D'Joke plays, the more he's tired in these conditions. But on the other hand D'Joke is able to regroup after 20-30 minutes of poor play. He's a great fighter and wouldn't stand tough conditions playing long match only against players on a similar level to his like last year against Roddick :o

haha. Why Mirka? Anyways, credit to Novak and I have him as a finalist but come on. It's been so easy to quarters. Tsonga may be a test but I am sure Almagro will take care of that.

You are just a hater man. When did Federer have to face guys like Koubut just to reach quarters. It's always been hewitt, Andreev or some tough guy at least before the quarters. Listen. I like Novak but let's call a spade a spade. This is the easiest draw in the history of pro tennis.

Nice to see Nole get a rare break with the draw. Last year was an obvious vast conspiracy by the association to destroy him. This draw is a lame attempt to silence those who have noticed that universal fairness and tennis are oxymorons. We've seen that several times that he was forced to play day matches following late evening matches, but nothing tops last years AO where they made a great athlete with congenital breathing impediments (for which he's had surgery, and still not close to 100%) to have to play in 140 degree whether and not close the roof. Compare that to the baby gloves that are always applied to Frauderer (the evening matches and the continuous parade of bums in the draw). If Nole was not afflicted with this ailment, he would have 5 slams by now.

Once you win this Nole, take the damn money, the trophy, any way you can just like Frauderer has over the years. Perhaps if you become dull and a marketers dream like Frauderer, you will see more of these types of draws.

Solid win, Novak is looking better by the minute. Very sharp stats, impressive. Go Nole!

Kubot was sick during the match. He admited that he made a decision about playing just before the game. He said it was his dream to play GS match on one of the centre courts so he took a lot of pills and decided to play. He had feever and didn't sleep at night. Anyway, he is not a "excuse" guy, so it's very sad that something like this happened :(
Congrats for the best result of your life and I'm hoping he can still play doubles tomorrow.
Can't wait for his South American tour!

Another easy win for Djokovic. Too bad him or Tsonga are gonna be out of the tournament next round.....
