Not impressed by Roger but got it done in straights.
48 winners to 39 unforced errors for Fed, 26 winners to unforced errors for Albert.

Cruise control... next match requires a lot more.

Indeed, Rogie faced no break points here, but he will face some against Hewitt or Baghdatis. However, he'll beat either of them in the 4th round.

Eh I like Monta˝es but he will never be a threat in hard court, he never attacks the ball with flat shots, too used with top spin, but used sometimes the backhand very well, probably one of the easier opponents in rd3 I think Flo Mayer or even Alejo Falla/Istomin/Kubot could have been more dangerous to Federer.

On a sidenote he won 11 games, good job.

Federer's first real test will be against Davydenko (or Verdasco).

backhand wasn't working as well as it worked against Hanescu, but the serve was excellent and I'd take that over the backhand any day, hopefully he keeps serving this well as he moves on, besides that it was routine performance for the GOAT :rocker2:

nice on-court interview :yeah:

Federer evolved into the legendary Frauderror as usual again today, but yet this was not enough for him to loose the match against the wta player Mugtanes, who cannot even return serves even if his life depends on it. I mean seriously, are clowns like this manufactured or hand-picked to play in the atp?

Roger was making way too many UEs, specially in his BH side :o

Nice practice session, and considering his absymal BH once again, he might need some more.
Not sure if he's going to get anymore though. :smoke:

Montanes fought well with the few things he can actually do on a hard court, and served really well and accurately all match, so kudos to him :yeah:

Good effort for the liitle guy. Bad match up. Mantanes is no where near Feds level on HC. He played well and kept his game together well. Nothing to be ashamed of.

Fed's baseline was shaky today, particularly on rally strokes. He's not dealing well with spin, and thats going to be a problem, especially if he goes up against Hewitt (who won't give away nearly as many free points as Montanes).

Fortunately he's looked solid on sitters and flatter strokes, so that bodes well if his opponents are Baghy, Djoker or Davydenko.

He also definitely would prefer night matches.

typical Fed performance in day sunshine

Considering he didn`t even face one break it`s a pretty good performance.Obviously he plays better in the night session and good thing for him is that he will probably play in the night session all the way considering he will play:Hewitt/Baghdatis and then probably Davydenko.

Federer won't get past Hewitt/Baghdatis and will be destroyed in straights by Davydenko if he plays like he did today.

Fortunately for Federer's fans, he won't play as bad as he did today in these matches. His backhand was Feli Lopez good today.

Hewitt is a flat hitter

bit of a shankfest in the middle of the 2nd (NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! :p) , but the bh looked pretty solid before that. and he was hitting it pretty hard too. then again, he wasnt facing the deadliest balls.
