Most of those losses were against Federer probably. He's also played Nadal 3 times at Roland Garros. Bit unlucky.

pretty poor stat for a 2 time slam champion. though i think we all know 2000 till 2004 mens tennis went threw a transitional patch, where the old guard were falling away but the new generation weren't ready to dispose of them.
