I only saw patches as I switched to Ferrer/Baghdatis a lot, but despite the clear scoreline after the first set, the win was not convincing in my view.

Very bad, wasted a bit too much energy, but it's good to have your bad match in the first rounds...

What a shitty performance from Nole today. Marco didn't do anything special today and still Djokovic needed 4 sets.
An even more dreadfull performance than Federer against Andreev 2 days ago...

Agree with you that Nole needs to up his game but he won't have to the next round as he is facing Istomin.

If Chiu broke at 1-0 in the second set to go up 2-0 it could have been a different game!

I wouldn't care too much about Nole's performance in early rounds. He can lift up his game when required.

Yeah but 25 million for 10 years I would wear anything.

Especially after the first set, Novak was hitting his groundies with very good depth, but his shots could be penetrating the courts a little bit more than they are. He is getting more accurate with both his FH and BH down the line too.

Also, he started to really stand his ground on the baseline and started to hit his grounstrokes nice and early on both sides during sets 2,3 and 4.

Djokovic is playing good hard court tennis, as one would expect!

You wish. Even playing bad Novak can win anyone. I wouldn't worry much about his first rounds, he will pull out the big guns when he needs them. Economizing the effort is what he's doing.
