i think Rogi will pull out of this one due to playing so much this year but I hope not. He should have time for R/R after the open. He is going to LA after it for business and relaxation reasons.

local newspaper reports:

揂s the 2004 US Open champion I look forward to playing my first event in Bangkok at the Thailand Open. I抳e never played in Bangkok, but I抦 sure it will be a huge thrill to be in the draw as the new US Open Champ, said the world No 1, who has won three Grand Slams this year, missing only the French Open.

He is the first person since Mats Wilander in 1988 to achieve the feat.

Federer抯 win at Flushing Meadows confirmed his status as the World抯 No1 player, but Federer is still relishing the challenge of the Thailand Open.

揑 will need to be on top form as so many great players have entered for Bangkok and they will all want to beat the US Open champion, he said.

Why Bangkok? Isn't the tournament in Japan more prestitious and have more points and prize money? Besides that, isn't it good for Federer to promote his name in the 2nd biggest economy in the world?

I don't know *why Bangkok*?~~I only came here to say "Do it again, Roger" :bigclap:.

He has playing of time to rest and prepare for this baby. He will be fine. He monitors his body well. I hope he does a lot of S&V here.

I'd like Rogi to play Tokyo one day... I'm sure they want him too!

Do what you can do, Rogi, doesn't matter!

Will he ride an elephant like Carlos did last year? and learn to do Thai dancing??

Not sure why he chose this either. I guess Roger may have wanted to play indoors, but still have a break before Madrid. Lyon would have fitted the bill better imo; he could have had a longer holiday after the USO, and it's closer to home so less travelling, and worth more points. Guess it must have been the appearance fee, that's the only explanation that makes any sense. Fancy a 175pt tournament getting both of the top 2 players though - pretty unusual I think.

Yeah they must offer Rogi a pretty penny to go there. He also probably want to have one Asia tourney in his schedule.

I wish he will pull out so he can have longer vacation before Madrid. He will have to play three weeks non stop.

The tournament in Tokyo is the week after Bangkok, he can play both if he wanted to.
He could probably win both too. I think Fed will get at least 12 titles this year. But Muster doesn't have the record, Lendl won 15 titles in 1982. Simply unbelievable.

Daniel, Roger played very nicely in doubles (with Allegro) today against the doubles champion last year (Ram/Erlich) and the Swiss won! Yeah!!! Today, my son also caught Marat Safin's wristband when he threw it after winning the match! This is the greatest tournament ever for us!!!

What a perfect match for the Thai people.

Although I'm a big Ninja fan, I hope he doesn't double bagel Paradorn for the sake of the game in Asia.

Let's hope he saves the Bagels for Hewitt :p
