I think Isner can defeat Troicki or Tipsarevic. Considering the Bryans will win, this will be decided in the 5th rubber between Querrey and Troicki/Tipsarevic

Tough who to pick from Troicki or Tipsa. Both were playing pretty well this week.

Hope they go with Tipsy. Hes insanely good in Davis Cup. Think Serbia should be heavily favored here.

querrey can try to win one on clay vs Tipsa, but Isner will lose both, and no one can beat Novak...easiest win here..

considering the way Djokovic and Querrey played recently, and the fact that Querrey lost 7-6 in third set to Gonzalez in Acapulco after just coming from his victory in Memphis whereas Djokovic will just arrive on clay with all the mental problems he showed last week,

I don't think it's impossible at all that Querrey gives many problems to Djokovic on first day.

Djokovic will beat Isner, but the Bryans are favorite, and the other matches are winnable for the USA. Serbia is favorite but I don't think this match is done yet.

In indoor clay?

Karlovic destroyed the Ace record on indoor clay, and Isner has a better baseline game than him and a great mental ability ;)

I'm more doubtful about his physical though, and anyway Tipsarevic looks in great form then will be favorite imo.

If friday finish 1-1 USA has good chances, I think the match between Isner and Troicki/Tipsarevic will be the key

it's a shame that Roddick do'nt want to play. For Blake it's not a problem it's not good actually and did not desserve to be in the team. But Andy should be the first choice. As he is not here, Isner and Querrey are the best options. The Bryans in double are intouchable. I don't know is McEnroe has pick a susbtitue during the week if there is an injury for the singles players ? Fish is a good soldat even if clay is not his surface. Perhaps Russel, which clay is his best one, could have been a good substitute.

For serbia, i think it's not easy to choose Troicki or Tipsarevic for the second match. i think Troicki could have his chance. Last year match of Tipsarevic on clay against Nadal was terrible. For doubles, they have good options. Zimonjic is intouchable and he can play with the three other players. But as the the double USA team is a special one, i would have tryed a special one too for the serbians : Zimonjic and Vemic. they ofetn played together in the beginning of their carreer and Vemic play actually good. And he is pretty good on clay.

To take Vemic, the Serbian coach should put one of Troicki and Tipsarevic out of the team for the weekend. MAny ppl seem forgetting that in the end, there are only 4 players in a team.

I think the first rubber, Isner-Troicki, could maybe even decide the tie. Isner is the underdog but I can see him winning...

I would rather have seen Janko instead of Viktor. Janko just had a confidence boost and Troicki is well able to totally collapse during a match.

If US win at least one match on 1st day, they have got great chances to win the whole match. :)

While I’m no fan of Davis Cup, this one should be interesting and I’ll definitely be tuning in to see how the American upstarts fare against Djokovic & Co.

Rubbers:

Troiki vs. Isner
Djokovic vs. Querrey
Tipsarevic / Zimonjic vs. Bryan / Bryan
Djokovic vs. Isner
Troiki vs. Querrey

Will the Americans get their asses handed to them yet again on European clay? … Or is there a possible upset in store? [and interestingly, the U.S. and Serbia have never met in Davis Cup action.]

serbia 4-1... if not 5-0

Serbia should prevail, but I doubt it would be as straightforward as that. Bryans are favorites for the doubles IMO and Querrey can win over Troicki. I don't see them pulling off the third, though

Picking Troicki over Tipsarevic for matches like these, how stupid is that.

The US could actually win this. Querrey and Isner are perfectly capable of both beating Troicki, and the Bryans have to be the clear favorite in the doubles match.

The real problem is just that its on slow clay, and the US is fielding two serve reliant singles players. On another surface, I'd almost favor the US to win 3-2 based on beating Troicki twice and winning doubles. But on clay, I gotta say 4-1 or 3-2 Serbia are the most likely outcomes.

3-2 to Serbia.

Djokovic wins both singles + Tipseravic beats Isner.

US win doubles and Querrey beats Tipseravic.

The tie would possibly be more interesting if Troicki-Querrey was the first match on Sunday, as that would make the decisive fifth rubber scenario more likely. As it is, it's likely to be over before that match

Troicki is very unreliable so it won't be that easy for Serbia. I agree Tipsarevic would have been a much better choice.

Go John and Sam

It's tough to say.....

All depends if John and Sam both play well that USA has a chance to lock 3-2 or even 4-1 wins

one of John and sam could have a chance to steal a match from Djoker\\

and Always good to see young talent to play their first davis cup like John

Good job Serbia. Janko is like .850 winning percenteage in Davis Cup, huge momentum, and you don't play him in singles. Hopefully he plays reverse. What a joke.

you see : Troicki played a great match :yeah:

As for yesterday's doubles, what happened in the 3rd set TB ?

I didn't understand

it was set point for Serbia, Tipsarevic hit a winning return, but the referee gave the point to the US : TV showed Zimonjic raising his finger twice, Pascal Maria (the referee) also pointed at him, the commentator didn't understand what had happened

Can anybody tell me what happened ? :worship:

Why didn't Mike Bryan play the doubles?

Go Nole today!

Because of the ancien Kremlin art of poisoning food.

We learnt a lot from Russian Tzars but it wasn't enough anyway

Shamil was probably better organized...

Why on earth Bryan twins didn't order chicken curry both ????

Djokovic - Isner (7-5, 0-1, in progress) I didn't like that racket-breaking scene from Djokovic. There are a couple of thousand kids at the Arena. That is not what you should be teaching them...
