JolánGagó 01-07-2010, 04:22 PM It's no nickname, it's one of his surnames, you ignorant. Speed of Light 01-07-2010, 04:29 PM Yes,Rafa should always be called Rafa. This Parera nickname has been brought about by various suspicious sources whose loyality to Rafa is of ambiguous nature. The nickname in question may be in use to serve secret purposes and hidden agendas for these sources, perhaps to divide and rule the Rafito fanbase, and help the smug Ego to increase his fanbase. We can never let this happen. KolyaLegend 01-07-2010, 04:33 PM Nickname? This guy is quite a genius Speed of Light 01-07-2010, 04:35 PM It's no nickname, it's one of his surnames, you ignorant. Arkulari 01-07-2010, 05:59 PM :rolls: :rolls: StatRacket 01-07-2010, 09:47 PM I suppose everyone realises that the name Parera can be broken into Par and Era. Par meaning average and Era a period a time, suggesting that the level of men's tennis is only average at the moment. I think it is pretty funny considering the amount of people who say stuff like 'mug era'. Orka_n 01-07-2010, 10:01 PM I for one agree with the OP. Instead, let's just call him Spartan Clay Monster of Topspin Death. Seville 01-16-2010, 08:18 AM I like Rafa but that nickname is stupid beyond words. The nicknames on here for players have gotten very thickskull. First, it isn't a nickname, it's Rafa's surname. Spaniards have a double-barrelled surname composed of both parents' surnames. In Spain women have never taken their husbands' surnames. So first name plus that double-barrelled surname is Spaniards' legal full name. Then, in their everyday lives, people use the composed surname or just a part of it, depending on their preferences. For example, Spain's Prime Minister is called J.L Rodríguez Zapatero. As he tends to use his mother's surname, people call him simply 'Zapatero'. Another example is painter Pablo Ruiz Picasso. He always used his mother's surname and that was the one he transmitted to his children. And second, 'Parera' is not "stupid beyond words". It is the name of a medieval aristocratic lineage from the Spanish regions of Aragon and Catalonia. Some members of that lineage were reputed warriors. This is their coat of arms http://www.armoria.info/libro_de_armoria/PARERA.html | |
