Tipsy's pouting and wants to go home. Be a humanitarian and put him out of his misery, Andy.

thanks tipsy. Please stop this BS andy

tsurupettan
09-02-2010, 01:49 AM
well, tipsy gave andy the break back. maybe andy will stop just pushing the ball around the court.

OnyxRose

Seriously.

tangerine_dream
09-02-2010, 01:50 AM
Way to sleep on your opponent, Andy.

DavidLawTennis Roddick is a percentage player these days. A very good one, with a phenomenal serve, but no player fears him from the baseline any more.

This is a good point. One reason Andy loses to so many crappy players is he doesn't let them feel his presence anymore; they no longer fear him.

tsurupettan
09-02-2010, 01:52 AM
andy, stfu, don't get caught up in this, too. tipsy did it pretty quickly, you were just busy doing your own thing.

Deboogle!.
09-02-2010, 01:55 AM
hitting 84% of his shots on the fastest court left in tennis from behind the baseline is really really not a good sign.

Keech
09-02-2010, 01:59 AM
why not?

Deboogle!.
09-02-2010, 02:02 AM
Are you serious?

tsurupettan
09-02-2010, 02:04 AM
yeah, andy really needs to get up to that baseline and just take it to tipsy, but instead he's just fine trying to wait for errors most of the time, which really, this feels like any old andy match in that sense, but come on, fast hard court -- get on it andy!

if this goes beyond three sets -- god forbid, five -- it doesn't look good for andy at all.

Andy Roddick: Making players play and look better than they are since 2005.

i'm going to hope for at least a tb here in the second set. too much? too much?

Deboogle!.
09-02-2010, 02:09 AM
Why, andy won't win a TB

tsurupettan
09-02-2010, 02:11 AM
good point, but i'm still trying to figure out what the lesser evil would be between andy losing a tb and tipsy not even needing one.

Deboogle!.
09-02-2010, 02:12 AM
well now, it's tb is lesser of 2 evil b/c at least if he gets to a tb he'll serve first in the third.

but now tipsy is like kinda hurt and going for winners on the first ball which just makes andy fucked, imo.

Deboogle!.
09-02-2010, 02:15 AM
these approaches are effing embarrassing

tsurupettan
09-02-2010, 02:15 AM
andy seems a bit fucked if he loses this second set anyway. i don't know why he's still just laying balls into the court when tipsy's crushing them right back. at least make him a tiny bit uncomfortable.

OnyxRose
09-02-2010, 02:16 AM

Am I hearing things or was that some fan yelling "Do something Andy!" Maybe it was just me saying that in my head.

tsurupettan
09-02-2010, 02:23 AM
andy's gotta stop just trying to bank on an opponent's ues in matches by pushing everything back. :o it'll only get you so far and only with certain players. be aggressive gdi and make shit happen for yourself.

Deboogle!.
09-02-2010, 02:24 AM
we're all saying it, but he's not doing it, tangy, hard to see him turning this around, nothing is different this set so far. still content to let tipsy hit a billion winners.

He needs to wake the eff up like he did in Miami vs Rafa. We're all tired of this shit passive play from him.

Deboogle!.
09-02-2010, 02:37 AM
Don't understand why he's so listless out there. I get the whole mono thing but what he's doing is not conducive to saving energy at all.

OnyxRose
09-02-2010, 02:38 AM
I'm going to sleep. I will not be surprised to see a loss here. He's doing exactly what I feared he would do: fold against lesser ranked players.

Deboogle!.
09-02-2010, 02:39 AM
k this is now embarrassing.

tsurupettan
09-02-2010, 02:42 AM
true. if he didn't have much energy, you'd think he'd be using what little energy he had, into playing fast and short, instead he's getting caught up in these rallies and doing all this running in his own service games. so frustrating. but i guess a red flag would be that he doesn't even seem to be getting frustrated himself. he's just... kind of blank right now.

it's too bad he's not playing like he did against cilic when he was injured. sure he lost in the end, but for a pretty good extended time, he was playing sooo aggressive and was benefiting from the play. not saying i want him to be hurt and play, of course, but just wish he could change gears.

eta:  well, bye andy.

tsurupettan
09-02-2010, 02:56 AM
yeah, he needs to stfu about it already. i'm really surprised the ump hadn't called him on anything with how many side comments he kept making.

oh god, he's still talking to the ump about it, too. :o

i don't even want to see this possibly go to five.

OnyxRose
09-02-2010, 03:00 AM

Heather1229
09-02-2010, 03:00 AM
Ugh that was quite terrible. I mean he really never knows when to shut his mouth, kind of embarassed for him there.

Deboogle!.
09-02-2010, 03:03 AM
it's funny b/c it only ever happens when he's playing like shit. i mean, he's been called for a footfault before and it hasn't been a drama.

OnyxRose
09-02-2010, 03:06 AM
Is he still going on at the mouth? Judging from the comments I really don't see how he can explain that away.

I don't think they can fine him for it, unfortunately, he never used a profanity did he?

tsurupettan
09-02-2010, 03:07 AM
i guess he needed something to get supremely fired up about... like his crappy playing wasn't a good enough reason. :p

Heather1229
09-02-2010, 03:09 AM
Fee, no he didn't. Maybe he was having Serena flashbacks. He is just a tool today, toolish play and toolish behavior. Brooke looks pissed off, I hope she makes a point to tell him he was an ass.

tsurupettan
09-02-2010, 03:11 AM
he might've not have used any profanity, but you'd think he'd get some kind of even a small warning from the ump just because he kept harping on the lineswoman about it. (who john and pat said is no longer on the court, iirc.)

tangerine_dream
09-02-2010, 03:11 AM
I especially liked the part when Andy told the chair ump, "I'm going to change my shorts, OKAY?" That was a nice touch.

EvanLysacek You're doing great Andy!! Way to refocus after that bogus call. Keep it up!!
:haha:

Heather1229
09-02-2010, 03:14 AM
Oh I totally thought he was out of line and should have gotten a warning but it certainly wasn't as bad as Serena last year with the physical threat and the foul language.

Tangy, the shorts thing was so random. "Hey, I'm a tool and just made a complete fool out of myself but can I go change my shorts?"

Deboogle!.
09-02-2010, 03:18 AM
nah he was like wringing out his shorts before, they were obviously drenched..

I agree he deserved a warning for unsportsmanlike conduct.

if only he had been playing with this energy from the beginning, this would be a different match. Now it's almost surely too late.

Heather1229
09-02-2010, 03:21 AM
being an Andy fan is like playing in traffic...really...

Fee
09-02-2010, 03:21 AM
I seriously just want to spank him like I've never wanted to spank him before. He started out fairly well in the first set and then went to sleep in the second set, and then decides to mouth off like a spoiled child for two games. He doesn't deserve to win, not like this.

I know he's going to apologize profusely after the match, but I'm getting tired of it. He's too old for this now. I know its different to be on court, in the pressure of a match, especially at a slam, but it's time for him to move past this idiotic behavior.

tsurupettan
09-02-2010, 03:23 AM
uh huh, even if he somehow does get this to a fifth set -- which honestly, not sure if he's gonna be able to do because while he has picked it up some, he's still playing pretty shoddy and loose a good portion -- i won't be surprised if tipsy still gets it in the end.

Deboogle!.
09-02-2010, 03:25 AM
Andy deserves to lose because of the fucking shit way he's playing. the tirade at that lineswoman just made it that much worse. Let's be honest, as kate said to me, if that had been at 5-2 instead of 2-5, that wouldn't have even happened.

Fee
09-02-2010, 03:30 AM
EvanLysacek You're doing great Andy!! Way to refocus after that bogus call. Keep it up!!
:haha:

gawd Evan, shut up.

tsurupettan
09-02-2010, 03:31 AM
basically. i'm sure this situation has been beaten to death, but it sucks that the umpires don't try to get andy when he pulls stunts like that. he may apologize after, but that doesn't excuse his behavior. i guess they're just trying to keep the confrontation down and not make the situation even worse, but idk, if andy got called out more often he might think twice before letting that tongue of his fly (or keep on flying).

Deboogle!.
09-02-2010, 03:34 AM
I think the biggest problem the umps have is that Andy's smart and he doesn't just do a full tirade, he actually usually does make some sense. molina's mistake was that he said andy was right when andy asked him whether he had hit a footfault on his right foot. Molina should've said, i'm sure she meant your left foot and misspoke. instead he was like yea you're right and it pissed andy off even more.

it's like the last time (in cincy?) when andy was asking how many seconds for a challenge. The ump couldn't give him an answer and it just made him keep going.

Deboogle!.
09-02-2010, 03:37 AM
but he wasn't questioning whether she was right, his problem was that she said it was his right foot. and he was just in a pissy enough mood that he was too annoyed to realize she just made a mistake and spoke (probably out of nerves lol). the next time he got called for it, he asked the guy which foot, the guy said left, and andy actually gave him a thumbs up, didn't argue it, and that one was actually NOT a footfault :rolls:

Andy tossing his rackets away just was the perfect way to end it really.

Deboogle!.
09-02-2010, 04:05 AM
I have sigs turned off, but whatever. If andy can't realize that this gameplan of the last oh, SIX YEARS, is losing and he'll never be able to win another slam playing that style, then I really do give up. hard work doesn't mean much if you're too stubborn to change your life. I've learned that myself in the past few months.

as i said to kate, if you told me all this was gonna happen after miami in april i would've called you a liar. a lot of it is not his fault but something has got to give. He's likely to end the year out of the top 10 now.

tangerine_dream

OnyxRose

yeah, i can buy that, too, but i wouldn't have minded to at least see him put a bit more into it. it was disappointing since he could have definitely gotten further and what i watched (basically the first set and a little after until andy got broken again), the crowd seemed to want to get behind andy, but he just wasn't giving them much.

The real question is whether or not Larry comes back for the 2011 season.

The only saving grace of this match is that I actually like Nole.

I personally think the only thing that's wrong is his head and he has checked out but who knows.

So Andy lost all his matches! What a surprise. I thought he had some energy to go further this year at it might be the last time he can classify for this event :p

Definetely the last time IMO. I think 2010 was Andy's last year in top 10.
