The night's play was suspended due to rain, and will be played today. First match is Nalbandian v Gaudio (noon Argentine time), and Marcos will be after that, with the final on at 8.00pm Argentine time. It is on livestream now if you want to watch

Here is a short youtube clip of Marcos in Buenos Aires v Gonzalez.

Marcos looked great at the Copa Argentina, by the way. He is one of my favorite players, and one I root for most times he plays, although Nalby and Sod are my top two, so I cheered for Nalby in the Copa Argentina final and was worried when I saw Sod and Marcos on a collision course at the Stockholm Open. Robin pulled out of the Semis in Stockholm due to tennis elbow, and Marcos went on to win the title, but I watched most of his matches in Stocholm (great match beating the Mosquito, Ferrero, in straight sets in the First Round!) and just saw him play in the Copa Argentina. He is now ranked #42 in the world after falling as low as #151 due to the knee injury and missing Wimbledon.

All of his press in Sweden during the Stockholm Open indicated he was playing without pain for the first time in years after being out for long periods of time due to back and knee injuries. He never played Robin because Robin pulled out, but believe me, I was worried about that upcoming match.

I will boldy state that based on his recent form, which included a 6-2, 6-2 beatdown of Gonzo and an impressive 7-6, 7-5 win over a battling and in-form Pico at the Copa Argentina, he is back to what fans expect out of Marcos. I watched the entire Pico match on live stream and the Nalby final. I will be surprised if he is not back in the Top 20 this year, and the way he has been playing, he might get close to the Top 10 again barring another injury.

In short, I would expect fans of Marcos to have a great year in 2010. Be ready for him to surprise you. The rumblings of a volcano have been witnessed by one who has followed him, but doesn't necessarily put him in my top 5, and he looks really smooth and is injury free right now for the first time in years. Everyone already knows how talented he is and how much fun he is to watch. It should become clear that he is back as a major threat when he plays in Brisbane and Sydney to begin the 2010 season before the Australian Open.
