Yea, we're all a bit nervous tonight. I've noticed too.
5-5. Man, the last two matches have gone to 5-5 in the first set. I'm praying this will be like the blue shirt one against Nole. I've got no more fingernails to bite off!

Those we're great. Both players are playing like their lives depended on this match. Fed losing has opened this one up. Great match!!! :)

Third first set tiebreaker in the past 3 matches. This is killing me! Allez Robin!!!

It's coming and going, SweTennis. I'm connecting via Wireless at the moment, so I'll see a rally, it will freeze, and I'll be not sure what happened for a moment or two and then it will cut ahead to the score. Very frustrating. I'm moving my external USB Wireless adapter all over the place trying to get the best signal. But I'm seeing enough and it's better now, thanks!

Oh well. Robin had his chances, but I'm a person who almost always sees the glass half full. Let's not forget he was a sub for this tournament, and all in all he had a great couple of days, with back to back wins over the 2# and 3# of the world.

First, for the first match leading into 2010. :)

I'm posting this everywhere so there is NO confusion. The matches have started (not Robin's yet though) and the streams are working! :D

From Sport finally is listing a link to a live stream for the

ATP Abu Dhabi World Challenge (http://www.fromsport.com/video-143861.html)

http://www.fromsport.com/c-4.html (three different match streams now listed off this site in different languages. I thought it was going to be hard to find a link a half hour before the first match started. Obviously not.)

This has always been a reliable stream from my experience. :D

Second link if problems with the first one:

http://www.rajangan.net/ shows the Capitala World Tennis Championship (http://www.rajangan.net/template_live.php?ida=5581)

Third link (and might be the best one as it is simple):

Live Score Hunter (http://www.livescorehunter.com/streams/tennis/1/001.php)
http://www.livescorehunter.com/streams/tennis/1/001.php

Scoobs just posted a fourth link:

Oh yea, "live scoring" should be put back in the title, SweTennis.

We can make a new Tournament thread if we think enough people will post in it. That has always been the issue before, but he is definitely getting a larger fan base. It may come to a point where that makes sense.

He let Wawa back in. Now 6-5 Wawrinka, second set, on serve.

I'm glad he wasn't playing Fedex today. His serve was broken 4 times, every time when he was serving for the set. Yuch!

I hope Fed comes out this rusty tomorrow. 1 Swiss down, 1 to go!

This point was awesome!!!!!
Hope to see it in highlites.

Totally dislike Robin's game. Seems like he is out of form - I believe his first serve decided to take day-off. No accuracy, no concentration...
Come on Robin! Wake up! Vacation is over. I know it is totally unfair and you want some more - but tomorrow you will face RF, so - wake up!

The point to make it 5-2 was fantastic! It froze on me, so I never saw him go to 6-2. But he took the match when Wawrinka hit an unforced error into the net after Robin returned his serve. Stan fans saw him play a rollercoaster match too. He looked awesome at times, and pretty dismal at other points. I thought Robin was smoking when he started the match...he looked great. He did enough to win in the second set. But he has to work on serving out sets, that is for sure.

I agree, Dana. It was a revolting display at times, although when he started his meltdown in the first set, Stan started to hit some wicked backhands too. The most discouraging part is that when he lost his serve, 3 times it was to win to win the set, and once it was at 5-5 in the first set. The most encouraging thing though, is that when he lost it, he came right back and broke Wawa in the first set to get to the tiebreak, and then held his nerve in the second set and played both tiebreaks with real nerve. He went up early both times too, so that was encouraging. Yea, the serve did not look great today. He got his first ace in his first service game in the second set. I think he only had a handful for the match.

I watched Kolya and Ferru too, and they were up and down too and it wasn't always pretty. I hope Fed shows up like that tomorrow and Robin shows the form he had in the WTFs, where he was fantastic, even in losing the last match to Del Pony.

Sky are pretty good to be fair :yeah: They almost always show post-match interviews, and usually the entire warm-up before matches too, and their studio chat is usually excellent. I know we moan, but when we realise how much TV coverage other countries don't get, most people here realise we have no right to moan. Only real negative point is the incessant Murray worship :o But he's our only top-ranked player, so guess that's not really surprising.

Links for watching Abu Dhabi Soderking vs Fed

FromSport:

Three different links there yesterday, including one with Spanish commentary

And yet another working link from yesterday:

The live stream at http://www.rajangan.net/ shows the Capitala World Tennis Championship (http://www.rajangan.net/template_live.php?ida=5581)

Live Score Hunter (http://www.livescorehunter.com/streams/tennis/1/001.php)

Why is it that Cilic can seem to find some amazing gears in some matches, such as against Murray at the U.S. Open and Rafa in Beijing, and completely mow down top ranked opponents as though he were in a different league? But that guy only comes out to play once in awhile. I've seen him play tennis that was almost unplayable for his opponent, and yet in the next match, all the magic will be gone.

Etern
01-01-2010, 12:07 PM

Yes, he's got to stop thinking and talking about it so much... I could almost sense he just wasn't in the mindset to take advantage when he got that set point in the first set. He plays really well against Roger, but on important points he will have ridiculous mis-hits that look as though he just has no belief. Lost the tie-break :awww: Come on Robin - please don't let Fed beat you again :tears:

I'm getting tired of these tiebreak losses to Fed, Rose. :awww:

And now he's lost his serve in the 2nd set  I just don't think he believes he can beat Federer - it's all in the head with this match-up

The only positive thing right now is that it's an exhibition so it doesn't count in the stats. I guess we have to keep hoping that he doesn't draw Federer in the big tournaments :(

Yes, he's got to stop thinking and talking about it so much... I could almost sense he just wasn't in the mindset to take advantage when he got that set point in the first set. He plays really well against Roger, but on important points he will have ridiculous mis-hits that look as though he just has no belief. He has to stop thinking of Fed as some kind of living legend I think.

I know, I know. I read the GM thread. :p Noone outside the Sweden Forum thinks Fed was trying today. Fed is too rich to care about a measly quarter of a million dollars. That's my favorite excuse so far along with the one about how he only plays for Slams now, so if he is bad in Masters events, just think how poorly he tries to play in exhos. And he gives it away with the watch. Yea, read that one a few times this morning.

Sorry to piss on your party Tim, but this was in no way a serious match, and those aren't just 'excuses'. ;)
Fed was just entertaining the crowd most of the time with his S/V play - and I think Davydenko had that same attitude yesterday. That doesn´t equal ´not trying´, nope - and saying he 'gave it away' is over the hill, of course, but don´t think he´ll ever play like that in a serious match. No way!

And do you really think he´s still after that cash, after already having won over 50 millions of dollars (prize money, not even counting the endorsements, appearance fees, etc.)? I highly doubt it. It's pocket money for him, as idiotic as that sounds...
He gets 1 million on APPEARANCE FEE at every non-mandatory tournament he appears in, did you know that? (Same thing for Nadal, btw). ;)

That said, I'm happy for Sod, as he indeed did very well. It was his first exho, so no wonder it's very different for him - he'll surely try and win this thing.
People are still underrating him a lot (), so he's out there to make his mark (again).

I updated my Sig, Karen, just for the next day or two. See Robin's compliment on Rafa and statement that they both have forgotton the past below.

I think most people are aware of the fact that Federer was in an exho-mode and could have done better (and probably won it as well). But in this case I don't think that matters. The important thing wasn't the match itself but the fact that he know will feel like he can beat Federer. Robin has the game to beat him but he hasn't really believed in it before, now he might start to do that. It's all about Robins head and confidence, not about Federer and how he played. Don't underestimate the placebo effect, at least thats how I see it :)
